    Multi LNB DiSEqC Setup with Mono Block

    Hi,

    I currently have 4 LNB's connected to my vu solo using a 4 way diseqc switch.

    I was thinking of adding 2 more LNB's, I have read how to do this using 2 4 way diseqc switches and a 2 way diseqc switch like this:

    lnb1----->diseqc1.1------>AA Uncommited input 1
    lnb2----->diseqc1.1------>AB Uncommited input 1
    lnb3----->diseqc1.1------>BA Uncommited input 1
    lnb4----->diseqc1.1------>BB Uncommited input 1

    lnb5----->diseqc1.1------>AA Uncommited input 2
    lnb6----->diseqc1.1------>AB Uncommited input 2
    lnb7----->diseqc1.1------>BA Uncommited input 2
    lnb8----->diseqc1.1------>BB Uncommited input 2

    Does anyone know if this would work using a 4 way diseqc switch, a 2 way diseqc switch and a monoblock?

    I was intending to connect my current 4 way into input 1 on the 2 way and then connecting the monoblock to input 2 and setting it up as follows:

    lnb1----->diseqc1.1------>AA Uncommited input 1 (4 Way 1)
    lnb2----->diseqc1.1------>AB Uncommited input 1 (4 Way 2)
    lnb3----->diseqc1.1------>BA Uncommited input 1 (4 Way 3)
    lnb4----->diseqc1.1------>BB Uncommited input 1 (4 Way 4)

    lnb5----->diseqc1.1------>AA Uncommited input 2 (Monoblock 13e)
    lnb6----->diseqc1.1------>AB Uncommited input 2 (Monoblock 19.2e)

    Does anyone know if this would work?

    Thanks,

    Mick.

    If your going to use a Monobloc then as you know this already has Diseqc switching inside the LNB enclosure, if your sticking to the 4 lnb with a monbloc combination then an 8/1 diseqc 1.1 switch with a 2 way Power Pass splitter will work.

    Connect the standard 4 LNB's to Input 1-2-3-4 then from the monobloc a small flylead connected to the single input of the 2 way splitter then 2 flyleads from the output into input 5-6 on the 8/1 diseqc

      Thanks for the reply,

      If I go for the 8/1 option I will probably just get 2 individual LNB's. The reason I thought about the other way is that I already have a 4/1 and a 2/1 and I've seen on another forum someone connected 2x 4/1's to a 2/1 and this worked setup like in my first post, So I wondered if a mono block would work the same way as a 4/1 connected into the 2/1 and setup on the receiver the same way?

      Thanks again,

      Mick.

        I found this picture on google, this is the setup I was thinking of but replacing one of the 4 x 1 switches with a mono block, I just wondered if anyone knew if this would work before I buy the mono block?

        Thanks,

        Mick

          It will work but for price comparison the switches cost dearer than some LNB's so cost wise 2 single LNB's would be the way to go, but your other solution would work if you have the gear lying around

            Thanks for that, I will give the monoblock a try and see how I get on.

              Just as a heads up...I've used 2/1 4/1 and 8/1 diseqc switches in the past and because I often changed the coaxial cables when adding dishes (had 4 dishes at one stage) I found that making up short lengths of cable with F connectors and F barrel couplers and putting these permanently on the diseqc switches and connecting dishes and boxes at the F barrel couplers as constantly loosening and tightening at the diseqc switch itself causes the solder to crack inside the switch.
