2g only at caravan

vodafone 2g only at caravan.so is it waste of time buying mifi ..for tv....?????tryed vodafone sim last week n facebook n some apps wer working...all am asking do you need 3/4G signal for watching tv..thanks

Why you say only 2g? Cant you buy the same set up ive just done. Working ok just the odd stick, but more than watchable.
Edit just clicked on no 3g coverage,i thought 3g was everywhere now

Apparently with Mobile networks they slip into 2G mode if your not using enough data believe it or not, the way to test this is if your tethering from the phone then use your receiver and say a laptop by surfing the internet this way more data is pushed through so that the phone is pushed into 3G mode.

Give it a try even if you just keep Pinging say something like google on the laptop should be enough to force the upgrade from 2G to 3G

Worth a go mate you haven't got a lot to lose. I read where you lose 3g network it reverts back to 2g so hopefully it will work.
Half the battle is finding a good provider. Ive heard some like T-Mobile block streaming so would try 3 network first.
You can buy 1gb data off Three for 9 quid off ebay or you could try this 2gb EE Sim for ?7.97

The box is a Dreambox 800hd sim2 with Openpli image. This has a usb lan card which I got from China in an order, cost me about 2 dollars but you need that or something like a Vonets bridge for the Mifi to connect to.
The Mifi is a Huawei E5332 3G.
This has a 3 3G Sim card.
Hope ive not missed anything.

Edit, Another option could be the Dreambox 800SE with built in Wifi.

Just set this up on a cable network and it works flawlessly no glitching at all. Anyone who hasn't got broadband but has cable its a goer.
