Giga blue quad plus worth a look?

I was just wondering if anyone had a giga quad plus and if so would they recommend buying one?.Also are these open source boxes? Thanks Rhurbarb

They are Enigma2 so if you dont mind losing Blackhole support image wise these are actually a better buy than the Vu Solo2, If i had the choice i would go for the GB Quad+

Thanks mate.Im tempted,originally i was holding out for the DM Goliath project but that doesnt seem to be happening.Ive been told around may 9th there will be news of a new duo solo .I will hold on for a few more days and see what specs it has to offer .but for now Im happy to buy the giga blue quad plus.Thanks

Apparently yes Vu+ are to release a new Vu Solo se version somewhere along the lines of the Solo2, Have not seen any spec myself yet so will wait for the Anga Cable show announcement

Are there any major bugs with the quad plus. I'm also teetering on the edge of buying one but still a bit unsure if it's worth throwing another 280 quid in at this stage of the game. I know have my fixed dish multi sat and am in a cable area wink wink. Hence looking at the gigablue. Ting is I've got a hybrid tuner coming for my uno.

your in a similar position to a lot of people in that i mean to take advantage of the most channels not only do you have a Cable feed but also a Multi-Sat array so channel wise no complaints there.

The Uno is a Great receiver just limited by just having the 1 Plug & Play slot, with the Quad Plus you can still take advantage of the Satellite as well as play with the cable side of things both at the same time .

I only invested in an Ultimo myself a couple of months back purely for that reason, i did think about the Duo2 but the Price is just not justified to me anyway and the Uno well already explained that i opted for the Ultimo over the Quad at the time purely just for Blackhole support and it will do everything i need for just watching TV, Also as the Ultimo has 3 P&P slots i can stick another Dual tuner in and have 2 feeds from my fixed 4 sat array as well as the Motorised on the single tuner and then just stick in a DVB-C/T2 tuner if i want too.

If it was me and you wont miss blackhole support the Uno will still fetch a good price sell it and put that towards funding the Quad Plus

Funding the quad isn't an issue digi. (Been a busy boy of late) I also plan to use the uno for messing with the cable side of things till I get to grips with it rather than a new box. Same sort of senario as you though with me fixed dish multi sat still viable and the possiblity of removing the sly minidish and sticking up a 70cm for the fixed and putting a motor on the 90 cm I already have. I also can't justify the price of the duo2 with the quad being more than man enough for watching tv and the odd bit of iptv. I haven't use blackhole on any of my own boxes for ages. I do still put it on for family and friends though purely for the stability of it. I find open atv just as configurable but with the button layout and epg of vix best of both for me but not very stable

just ordered the blue quad plus thought bugger it and in time try the hybrid tuner let the fun begin

hybrid tuner works great in the in vu+ so should be no different in the quad. didn't even have to reinstall image just took out sat twin tuner and plugged in hybrid then tuned in channels after a nudge in the right direction by smirnoff

i read some were dosent realy matter if itd 2.5 or 3.5 inch hddi in the quad do they work just as good as each other on the princibly of doing the same job

2.5 should generate less heat but then again ssd would generate even less

so i guess the E2 arcutucre is the same for on these as others for plugins /addons etc

Exactly the same westkill you should have no problems getting it setup to how you want

The thought behind it is to confuddle her indoors . Buy ssd under proviso of laptop upgrade and sick it in quad then loudly announce this new thing is rubbish when switching on laptop. Won't be buying anymore of them
