Right you have two options with this one. Both involve the plug and play tuner slots. Compare the sd on the fixed tuner with the same sd channel on a plug and play sat tuner if you can get hold of one or test it against the same channel on a cable or terrestrial feed. If the problem is with an fta channel westkill can test it with his terrestial feed if it isn't on fta let me know what channels they are and I'll test them with a cable feed on Thursday if my box arrives that is. It is very possible the tuner is not coping very well with weaker frequencies

I have just done a quick test on a Vu Ultimo Ok i know its not the same receiver and all the slots on the Ultimo are Plug & Play but i compared BBC1 on Sat 28.2? east with BBC1 on Cable both SD versions and used the recall quick zap button to flick between both and for the life of me i could not tell the difference.

I must add that i do not set any of the picture processing adjustments on the receiver itself as my Tv's HDMI inputs are calibrated seperately

I tried my dm800hd and my blade 7000s both had ok pictures .But when using the sharpness from the dm the pic improves when the scale went up when the giga went down in quality until it hit the middle .Its kinda like a radio not being tuned right to the frequency if that makes sense and the sharpness compensates. All checked on flava tv 28e with the emblem showing in the picture as a guide to the picture quality. Thanks guys
I did notice on bbc news 24 sd the red text blurred as well when testing ,thats not such a weak signal than the flava tv .If i can remember rightly it does that on all sd channels .I have not got the box here now as its gone back to the supplier. He seems to think this is normal on the gigablue .Rhurbarb

My box arrived today. Been on call though and just got in. The first thing I've noticed is the lack of a fan. Can anyone enlighten me on how hot these run with a 2.5" hdd in it

my Blade Combo has been packed away in its box since I got my Solo2 and I have never tried the Cable side of it always had it connected to a sat dish
so I thought that I would connect it up to my virgin cable and try it out
set it to Tuner 2 and gave it a go I got nothing only red signal bars didn't really think it would work
well it looks like a Duo2 or similar with a cable tuner will be my next purchase

mine seems pretty cool in standby , and when in use i would say warmish but no more than any other stb but comparing it to my dm800 that got pretty warm at times or maybe cause dont seem so compact as me dreambox time will tell

Well I'm all plugged in and running the image that was in it for testing I can't see any significant difference in the sd on the quad the uno original tuner or the solo clone. They are very dependant on what is being broadcast. None of them are as good quality sd as my tm5402 though. Mind you the tm is connected to a much better tv Once the quad is set up properly I'll put it in the living room and find out just how it compares to the old tm

settings backups are not cross image compatible, they will only work on the image they were created from.
