New box for new motorised set up?

Hi folks looking for some advise on this subject. Been using a solo2 on a fixed dish for the best part of the year and this is the only box I have at the moment. I'm moving house in the next few weeks and I'm going to be able to install a motorised set up as well as getting my own man cave to play with all the toys anyway I'm thinking about keeping the vu solo2 in the living room on a fixed dish as the other half knows how to work it the very best she can record search the epg ect even a change in remote will throw her off. So I'm wanting to get a box for the other room I'll list the things I'm looking for in order.. I'm used to open e2 linux but I'm open to using and learning anything else

: hd - is there many hd channels open with out any cards or cams? Or would I just stick to sd?
: tuner sensitivity - to pick up some of the week signals... Is some of the technomate non linux box better tuners than linux boxes?
vr internal would be better but I'm open on this
: tuners think I would be happy enough with a single tuner

?????? So what's out there folks

The Solo2 with the FPGA upgrade done has a very decent sensitive tuner as you already know, Not many if any E2 receivers can compete with closed source receivers for tuner sensitivity like a TM5402HD Mark 1 version which now sadly cannot be bought apart from secondhand.

You could wait for a Rundown on the new Solo SE when it becomes available and see if that matches requirements

Hi digicon, thanks for the reply I have never even heard of this up grade is it bundled in the latest vix image or how is it installed? That's what I thought about the e2 v closed source is there any other hd closed source you would recommend having a look at? Or would going for closed source mean losing a few features compared to e2

It is a software update done via the plugin menu, should say FPGA Upgrade as a plugin and connects directly to the Vu site it was used on the Uno and Ultimo as an upgrade for the Tuners directly.

Its always there in the Blackhole image i cant speak for any other image as i dont use them

thanks for the info digicon, seen somewhere on line that this update is better done on the original vu+ image do you think this is the case I'm running the latest vix image. Been looking to see if I could find a release date for the new solo se as I think this might suit my needs for the spare room
