Possible to use existing sky cables to connect tv and aerial?

Hi. I've recently moved and there isn't an aerial available where the tv is. The previous people had sky so removed the cables. There are existing sky cables which run to the dish on the back wall. There is an aerial situated on the same wall. Is it possible to connect the existing cables to the outside aerial and use it for freeview?

sly coax works fine for terrestrial aerial reception so yes the cables are dual purpose in that regard
if the cables already exist then you have nothing to lose by trying it anyway , but I see no problems doing so

As ramjet says, the cables are perfectly suitable for terrestrial TV, but have you considered leaving the cables connected to the dish & getting a cheap satellite box instead?

Thanks for the help. I did think about getting a freesat box but our new tv has freeview hd built in so thought it would be better to have one less box underneath. I managed to connect the aerial up to the sky cable so it's up and running now. Thanks again
