Help with no signal from motorised

    Hi Guys

    Hoping someone can help

I recently fitted a motorised dish with help of the guide posted on the sticky

I have the dish aligned to Thor and I am getting a good signal reading from the dish using my signal finder. Also had an engineer out with a digital signal finder and has reported the signal is good.

The box can control the motor with no problems

When the box trys to find the satellite I am getting no signal and no lock.

I am using a Ferrari VU+ Duo Clone V3 runni g the VIX apollo image.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

put the latest catseyes motorised list on it and ensure you have the usals setup correctly for your location
select the fta channels (like bbc world news) on 0.8w and see if the box sends the motor to 0.8w
check for signal and quality lock , if it still fails then maybe your system isnt aligned properly
ideally , check this with an old box like a tm1500 or some other simple box that works correctly on fta sd channels

Just put the catseye settings onto it. Still no signal lock. Its weird though as the engineer had a sat finder which locked onto a transponder and said signal was good. Whats the chances my box is not up to it? I have a clone VU solo here as well I will try it on. I tried to go to a channel on 13 e and the dish didnt move but I can move it from the positioner set up screen

          Hi Andy

Yeah I think so this is what I entered

          Longitude was -5.635512

          So I entered 005.635 west

          Lattitude was 54.374205

          So I entered 054.365 North

          Thanks

your in ireland.... are you sure the lat is set to 54 on the motor? you can get a signal on 1 west but if its set up wrong it will come off the arc as it moves. can you see the dish moving when you select a different satellite? at 1 west send it to say 42east then go outside to see if it moves, regards mdt

Would've thought that if you have a signal you should be able to do a scan and pick up some channels.Check the motor connections but if these we're the wrong way round you wouldn't get motor control,I think. On my box there are 2 sockets for sat connectors,in and out.Check you have the right one. After that I suggest the box, maybe a factory reset. What transponder do you have selected when you get a signal?Good luck and cheers.Mark

                Hi guys

Checked the lattitude its correct. Also hooked up a vu solo clone and its having the same issues.

I have a small 5 quid sat finder and hooked it up and signal is being found but still nothing at the box. All the connections to the motor are correct

Are you sure you are on 1w mate and the signal is not from another sat? Lots of sats use the same transponders so its possible to get a signal on a frequency that you think is one sat but its actually quite different.

If you have catseye settings loaded get BBC world news on 1w on your TV - you wont have a picture yet by the looks of your problem. Rather than any sat finder use that channel to adjust/peak your dish until you get a signal/picture.

I suspect you wont be able to fix your dish and watch the tv at the same time so get someone to help and tell you (scream) when you get the picture. You then know you have a lock on the right sat and you can peak your dish.

Will give that a go I tried moving the dish to hotbird. Strong signal from sat finder went to the box nothing the. The signal flicked on and off when i moved sats in te VIX menu

dont use the bouquet.. press green, satellites, 1 west then find bbc world news. those sat finders are as much use as a chocolate fire guard. put on bbc world news then turn tv volume up to full and when you here the tv you will know your on 1 west. get that shite off your box also and put blackhole on it. regards mdt

Got it working [emoji2][emoji2][emoji2] dish was slightly out of line enough to knock the signal off. I have tested on 19.2 13.0 and 28.2 all good signal. I am getting around 50% Snr on thor would that be about right?

its a little low but it depends on what transponder and what dish size ect. check hispasat@30west and if you pick it up you wont be far out it will just need fine tuning over a couple of days to squeeze every last bit of signal from the dish/lnb combo. its a good feeling when you lock onto a satellite after hours of trying, regards mdt
