Can I use my satelite dish without using sky

    Hi all
New to this - but have got fed up with the high cost of sky but in a bad reception area for aerial so is there any way I can use my sky digi box and dish to get tv without having to pay a high monthly fee? Or is there some other way other than free sat- know i wont be able to get sky sports channels which is a bore as will miss the rugby- but then maybe thats an excuse to go to the pub to watch!
Any ideas? not a techy so please keep any relies straightforward.
    Many thanks
    Chris

You can pay the ?20 fee to Sky for the freeview card. Or just get the remaining channels on the Sky dish that are free without the card.

Alternatively, point the dish at another satellite and see what you can find but you'd need a different decoder for that.

Sky Dish.. Yes.. You can use this to pick up signals from other European Broadcasters with a different receiver, quite complex if your a technofobe..

Sky Digibox.. No.. can only be used to receive sky subscription /sky free to air channels

If your not technical then your best best is to buy a Freesat box and just plug it into your current dish without moving it..

You could of course just use the set up you have to receive the free channels.. however you can buy a Freesat HD box and receive free HD channels
