high pitched noise from amstrad box

Hi can anyone help ??????
I've got a amstrad sky+ box and it has started to make a high pitched sqweeking noise,it also turns it self off and takes forever and a day to come back on any suggestions

Just a guess but it could very well be the Capaseters on either the main board or the power supply board found within the receiver, if it unable to switch on or powers off on it own, to me one or a few Capaseters have blown and are not powering the main board properly, this is usualy the case regarding the power board on certain Sky Digibox models, what you are hearing is a charge escaping from a blown Capaseters which sounds like a squeaking sound !

Not very much you can do unless you open it up and trace where the noise is coming from ! if its the power board it can be replaced with a new one, if it the main board there is nothing you can do other than get yourself a new receiver !
