it will definitely suffice, providing you get the line of sight clearance over the buildings and roofs that could block the sat signals

it needs to be vertical and plumb to work properly , but can definitely hold the weight and the wind load and strain
but bear in mind in high winds the motor or dish may still get blown around and move or swivel on the pole (mine has done more than once)

if these winds are blowing across the front and back gardens then the dish and motor will get its fair share of trouble (east to west or west to east winds)

you can but try it, but I would say that fence is only any good in non-windy conditions, providing its plumb

If your worried about height use a longer length of scaffold pole and stick a couple supporting brackets onto one of the fence posts. As a rule of thumb calculate the depth you need to put pole into ground same way as you would a fence post which is a third of the height out the ground needs to go in the ground. But I would calculate the height above ground as the height you mount the dish not the length of the pole. so to mount the dish 6 feet above ground I'd be looking at a 9 or 10 foot length of pole with a bit over 2 foot in the ground so it leaves about 18" above the motor mount. I would keep the motor mounted between the two supporting brackets I would put on the fence post.
Only you will know if you can track the arc from that position, dish pointer usually tells you if there's any obstructions

I have enclosed a few pics of mine that has been up for a few years. Use common sense and attach directly in front of a post and accross cross members, but I live in a very windy location and mine has been fine.
