Sky Sports News to join the sports pack...

Sky has confirmed that Sky Sports News will soon become available for only customers taking the sports package.

Previously, the channel has been included in the news & events pack, but it will also be on offer in the sports pack from September 1.

The move follows speculation on Digital Spy's Sky forum that the channel would soon be more widely available to Sky customers.

A Sky spokesperson told DS: "The speculation on the forums is correct. From September 1, Sky Sports News will be in both the news & events basic pack, as well as the sports pack."

cable customers where used to not getting this for a while when the sky/cable dispute and showing free channels was on.

Along cams setanta sports news , and i am sure something else will challenge sky if ESPN ( setanta ) decide to stop their version. ?

There is even word that Sky News is also to be tied up in a subscription and cease been FTA mainly because of Freesat, None of this is due to happen untill Sky stop Freesat-from-Sky service and then they are to roll back into subscriptions Sky 3 the other channels belonging to Five and Free to View channels curently only got by using a Sky Free view card......

Sky Sports News which to be honest can only be watched once or twice a day before you get repeated information should have always been FTA never mind Free to view !

Now that Setanta is gone Sky can do what they want to attract customers into buying more extras....

Hi, this is my first post as a new Member so this is very new to me. So far from what I've seen I'm having some difficulty with technical jargon so please bear with me.

I particularly like sports especially Rugby Golf and cricket and up to recently I was connected to South African satellite channels via a large dish in my garden. All this was stopped at the outset of The World Cup. Now I've bought a dreambox and have Truevision Platignum (I live on Koh Samui Thailand.)
I've been advised that with a different LNB on my dish there is a possiblity that I can pick up Astro (Malaysian) which would give me Australian Network sports which would include my Sports.
Anybody out there that could help me with information in words of few syllables ?
