original vu solo 2 with internal hdd fitted is a top three item

alternatives are the tm twin , gigablue quad or vu duo

not necessarily easy to setup or wife and kid friendly but a revelation compared to closed source boxes with single tuners

I have open atv running on my quad plus and my 8 and 12 year olds can work it no problem (wife's not so good with it ) for general viewing. If you do go for one of the recievers recommended by ramjet I would recomend you stick to VIX or OPENATV images, with both these images all the buttons on the remote do what they say they do, by that I mean the channel up and down button just changes the channel and the epg opens the epg, I mention this as if you buy a vu+ it will likely come with blackhole installed and this image can be very confusing with the button layout. Don't get me wrong blackhole is a very very good stable image albeit a tad confusing to use but the other two images I mentioned are much more user friendly and of the those two I prefer apenatv just because i find it as configurable as blackhole but as user friendly as vix. That's just my tuppence worth and my own personal preference, others will have other preferences

you could also consider the Golden Interstar Xspeed LX3 just on your Budget at ?299 from WOS it's a very nice receiver and has the added option of 4 Tuners
