Which box for streaming through internet?

    Hi guys,

what's a good box to get for streaming over the internet? I want to be able to watch tv channels from different locations.
I am looking at a single tuner box that is well supported. I had a look at the DM500 seems a good box but difficult to buy!

streaming as in iptv channels ? . if your after iptv a dm500s sd wont do as its enigma 1 (but a dm500s hd is enigma 2) and for iptv you need either an enigma 2 box or an iptv capable box .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.

Hi sorry I should of been more clear. My friend wants to stream tv channels from a sat box to a PC/LAPTOP through VLC all done through the internet so I can watch live feeds wherever I am located in the world. I am currently looking at:

DM800SE (advantages lots of support and guides on how to setup streaming / disadvantages slow processor / lots of clones around )
      ~
Miraclebox Premium Mini HD HD (advantages better processor / can't seem to find many guides but assume as it cant take the same image as a DM800 guide will be the same)

Vu Box Solo (I've got a duo myself great boxes, again finding it difficult to locate a guide on how to do this, I currently use VIX image on my box)

GiGaBlue HD 800 SE+ (also looks a good choice!)

I want to spend max ?130 and need something with 24hr shipping so must order something by 12pm GMT today!!

Any advice on which of the 4 to go for?

ah ok mate I see what you mean , you want to remotely access the box so that you (or others ) can view channels on your box from other locations . yes that is possible with a dm500s .

you need some sort of dyns account for this , you can use no-ip as they are free . you have two ip addresses , one is internal and one is external , you can easily for example set the internal ip to static so that it cant change . but you have no control over your external ip address , this is changed roughly every 24 hours by your broadband supplier . you can use your external ip (if you know it ) to connect to your box remotely but as it changes once it changes you will lose the connection to the box . so you need a dyns service like no-ip to maintain remote connections to your box .

its not hard to set that up .

another solution would be to say use something like Justin tv to broadcast from your box , there is a tutorial for this on the forum . lots of people broadcast their boxes to Justin tv , you have the option to make your channel freely available (that all Justin tv users can view ) or you can pin lock the channel and you can then give your friends /family etc the pin to view your channels , and you wouldn't need to use dns for that .

your vu solo can do either of these no problem ,as can any dm800 clone or otherwise . there is as I say a guide to stream to Justin tv on this forum and I know plenty of people on this forum could advise you on how to set up remote access to your box . I don't know the miracle box (and I know many boxes ) , what I would always tell people is that support for a box is paramount , a new box on the market will have poor support where as dreambox /vu plus has fantastic support , and maybe the best support .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
