    is nothing easy openmips 4.0

Thought i would change my image first i changed it to open atv no problems thought i would have a look at openmips 4.0 no problem then installed openmips 4.2 but it told me to update bootloader so installed that and 4.2 decided to go back to atv image as it was more like vix now nothing will flash only managed to get open mips 4.0 to flash but no other image will flash all freeze at the boot logo. so im stuck with openmips 4.0.
    have i got it wrong?

      Hi Buddy,

Same as you here i have the Gigablue Quad Plus model and have been reliably informed to stay away from any of the newer 4.2 either on OpenMips or OpenATV as they are awaiting a Kernel and Driver update from Gigablue before its fully functional and Glitch free.

I am currently running OpenATV 4.1 without any problems after coming from OpenATV 4.2 ans trying Openmips 4.1 which is the suggested image from Gigablue themselves.

What precisely is happening at the upgrade procedure when your trying to flash

      Regards

I orig****y went through the images as above then i tried to install openmips 4.2 it stated i needed to install the bootloader from there site when flashing the image which i did seemed ok but sound was glitching on and off every so often so decided to go back to the atv image.

flashes as normal seemed to work fine up to booting just froze on boot logo and would not go any further tried several other vix images and done the same went back to the 4.2 openmips image and done the same decided to go to openmips 4.0 and it booted and is working but if i try any other image it freezes at the boot logo. i have to flash the openmips 4.0 a couple of times to get it to flash properly but no other image will flash.

Will the openatv 4.1 work on giga quad as can't find the download only 4.2.

Thanks for that but there's no guarantee its going to install. how do you find what boot loader you have installed as in information about it does not say thanks for your input just hope I can get it to flash.

I've had a look at the gigablue site for the bootloaders once and thought well this easy to pick the correct bootloader. .. Not. ... so left well alone and that was when I first got the quad and was trying openmips. I think I got mine to flash after that using openatv 4.0 and all was well again. Is yours a quad plus or a quad m8 I can't remember

Ok solved corrupt boot loader because of usb with bad sectors its in the bin now had to re-flash at least 17 times to get it to load thought I bricked the box cant understand why just openmips 4.0 would load and nothing else.

updated its bad boot loader from gigablue causing the bad sectors and all my problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried the 4.2 on my Quad Plus and all seemed well at first, what i did notice and if any of you Quad owners could give feedback is when i had the menu or any Info on screen for a short time the picture use to flicker for a few brief seconds.

I reported this to OpenATV who reliably informed me that they where awaiting new drivers and kernel so they could implement them into the newer image.

I also now seem to have this problem on 4.1 and from reading feedback i am not the only one experiencing this, I thought it could be a problem with the receiver so i may try a version 4 image and then report my findings to Gigablue themselves

I haven't noticed any flickering not even when doing 4 sat and cable scan but I will keep an eye out. I often start doing something in the menu the wander away leaving it on menu screen as well
