Viewing BT Sport on a white $ly+ box?

Think I already know the answer to this one but just thought I'd check.

Is it possible to pair a FSFS viewing card to an Amstrad white $ly+ box to enable viewing of BT Sport in SD?

Or if you already have an ex subscription viewing card acting as a FSFS card paired with the box get BT to activate the Sports channels on that card?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

If you already have an existing official subscription card that is already paired to the Amstrad SD reeiver then it is probably easier to log into your BT account online and switch the card serial number over from the other card to the card that is paired with the amstrad.

If you go the other way and have the already subbed BT sport card paired to the amstrad then you may have to give $ly a call to pair it as normal and then do the BT route

Hi Digicon thanks for the swift reply.

I purchased the white $ly+ Amstrad box second hand from a car bootie a while back. It already had a viewing card in it but it was sleeping. I managed to get it working again after performing a Callback from the the receivers hidden menu and I have been using it as a FSFS card ever since. It is an ex subscription viewing card that was paired to the box orginally I know this because there was some recordings from premium channels still on the hard drive which I goit access to once I cracked the PIN number on the viewing card also it is quite happy in there (no "Wrong Card" message) so in theory if I give the viewing cards number to BT then all should be well.

BUT if I give this cards viewing number to BT do they cross reference the cards number with $lys database before switching on the entitlements? Because if they do BT will smell a rat and maybe think I'm allowing someone third party to access my BT Sport entitlements from a different address or $ly may block the card on the grounds of I'm not the original account holder and therfore should not be in possession of the viewing card.

I cant see you having a problem changing the BT Sports over from the existing card to the new card as this can be done online, If a problem arises you just tell BT that you purchased an official receiver second hand with the card still in there and so to not have to pair the other card to this receiver and have to involve $ly you just wish to swap the entitlements over to the other Card/Box combination.

Just remember as this is an SD receiver you will lose the HD entitlements

Thanks Digicon I may just go down that route as we no longer have the HD entitlements anyway because we cancelled them at the end of the free 12 month period that BT gave us because we had signed up to their sports channels from the first day they were launched back in August 2013.

Little update when trying to enter the viewing card number to the paired Amstrad $ly+ box BT checks an online data base before letting you proceed further which must be linked to $ly in some way and suprise suprise it comes back as it does not recognise the viewing card number so in short unless $ly issued you the viewing card then you cannot use it for anything other than the FSFS channels.

Doh back to the drawing board!

Why not ask sky for a freesat card and then follow the steps above??

Its probably easier to get your other card that already has the BT sports subscription on it paired to the Amstrad Box something i am afraid which will entail calling uncle ruppies mob to do this for you

Hi Digicon. That's exactly what I did and after repeating what I wanted them to do over the phone about five times they finally paired the FSFS card from the Samsung $ly+ HD box to the Amstrad DRX280 $ly+ box for me, luckily all my entitlements for BT Sport are in SD so I haven't lost any HD channels by doing this.

I also now have the advantage of removing the viewing card from the Amstrad DRX280 and putting it into my Technomate 5402HD receiver and the BT Sport channels in SD will also clear on that receiver as well as long as I keep periodically returning the card back to the Amstrad DRX280 to update it's entitlements.

So happy days I eventually got what I wanted by ditching the cranky old Samsung box even if it was the long winded way of going about it.

Many thanks to all those who chipped in with advice on this one especially Digicon.
