    UK Sky in Spain?

    Hi Everyone

i have myself a skybox F5 box here in Northern Ireland and i have relatives that live in Costa Blanca South that pay 28 euro a month for English freeview. i told them about the skybox i have here in the UK and they said they would like a skybox installed in Spain. they do not have a dish installed or anything and im just wondering would it be the same way to set up the dish in Spain like it is in the UK? by which i mean putting up a sky dish and pointing it to 28.2E and running a cable from the LNB to the skybox or will i have to get a bigger dish and stronger LNB?

    any info will help

    Thanks

They would need a very large dish as the footprint for UK tv has become a lot smaller in recent months. If they were able to receive a signal, I certainly wouldn't recommend a skybox F5 though as the tuner in them are not the best. I gather they pay this € 28 a month via IPTV then ?

Maybe a forum search for your questions would have found this....

Probably the best setup for the UK freeview channels in Spain is an 80cm dish pointed at 27.5? west with either a TM F3/5 or 5402M3 with the appropriate Biss key

        Thanks for the replies everyone

I have been reading other threads and other people have been using a 1.2 m dish with a technomate box. Will i recieve sky tv through this ?

Do you want all the Sky channels or just UK freeview, as your original post mentions UK Freeview aka Freesat if your after Freesat then as i mentioned above is what you will need if your after all the channels then expect to need a very Large Dish

the costa blanca south is not as big a dish as granada region i think you can get freesat with a 1.4/5 m dish i believe you can get sky with a slightly smaller dish. if its an apartment then you would need permission from the communal president ,if its a villa then just put it anywhere i would agree with digi on the box though

It is a villa, so could i get a 1.4m dish and point it to 27.5W? And what box would you recommend?

You wont need a 1.4m dish for 27.5? west an 80cm will suffice, i think blueflash234 meant for the astra2 reception at 28.2? east you would more than likely need either a 1.4 or 1.5m dish

yes thats what i meant astra2 reception at 28.2. when you tour about the area you can tell the ex pats they have dishes about 1.4/1.5 metres in size, its actually quite sad really when your on holiday and you are looking at sat dishes

I live in the Costa Blanca..... to get most of the 28.2? E Channels you will need at least a 1.4 mtr dish - the bigger the better!!

you wont get uk freeview as they are sent out from your local tv transmitter and require a dvb-t tuner and aerial to watch them

I think you mean freesat as you have a sat box, in which case you need a massive sat dish as explained earlier , say 1.4 metres in size, or bigger

the point is that the sat signals are targeted at the uk , not spain

yes they will work if suitable sat signals are input into your box, free means free , but location , location is also important, as is the dish size too

Thanks ramjet for your answer to my questions.
                            Sorry i meant freesat
not interested in any of skys ppv channels only uk freesat
my current bouquet is for sky 28.2 if i had a 1.5 m dish would it need to be pointed at 27.5 or 28.2 east?
i had a sky uk box working recently but have lost channels has the freq changed?
would a uk freesat box work?

providing the signal from 28.2e is strong enough , any uk type box will work, in fact almost any typical sat box will work

so due to the previous advice in this thread we will assume it will work with a 1.5m dish in spain

28.2e is where that dish is pointed at

27.5w is for satback and those channels require certain boxes and keys as they are encrypted

transponders are always changing, check lyngsat or that one called kingofsat or similar for actual details
