Problem with Dcc

Hi guys,

i have a big problem, i cannot access to my dreambox, ftp compenent not ready
i fix adress ip i changed cable, i do that that with rs232 nothing..
i dont know where is the problem

Is it cross null modem cable rs232 ?

if its not the address on your box and the address on your computer so they cant see each other then it might be the ethernet chip on your box
open your router and look for your ip for your box and see if its the same in dcc regards jovie

check your password is correct type passwd in telnet if I remember correctly will give you the option to check it or change it.


ha ha done the same myself its a pain and cannot get out of it myself.
its not ip address as changed as per router that will teach me.

got a really strong feeling its the router let you know later if I fix it and how!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the only things that can do this that I know of is incorrect ip address wrong password or bad Ethernet cable rough justice.

given my box a fixed ip address no change reset router to factory setting's no change the only thing I cannot check is what I initially suspected password as cannot get access to check it at present. SORRY FOR HIGHJACKING YOUR POST there are numerous posts on this all give the solutions I have tried apart from changing my Ethernet which is in the garage and its bloody freezing so it will wait till tomorrow.

Ok the only way I could get out of the situation was to do a total clean re-flash of image the problem only occurred after I done an update so I am really lost to as why this actually happened but have resolved my issue. I am using OPEN ATV 4.2 image.

i would have said reboot box and router recheck box is connecting to network and check ip is correct.

I had same problem and was on open4.2 and as woody said a reflash sorted it out. even after doing all as you said cacitkid .

why was rs232 cable used as dcc and filezilla both are ftp programs?

Done that several times again and again thought I was going insane you name it I checked it.
would really like to know what caused it. but all I could do in the end was re-flash which cured it.

good thing now it only takes me a few mins to re-flash.

think you tend to try everything as a newbie to the hobby

a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing, you read and only take a bit in at a time.

That's why I am so very dangerous.

yes you screw up the box so much only way is to start again from scratch and no backups .

Always backup m8 but always safer to do clean install the backup is always full of my mistakes.
