Two LNB's on one dish setup

    Hi guys,
I would like to set up two LNB's on one fixed dish (Duo?), ie. not using one of those single LNB's with two 'heads', but two separate LNBs, to receive 13? and 19.2? (Hotbird, Astra).
Could you give me an idea how to go about setting up the dish please? Ie. do I point it somewhere in the middle between the two sats or do I set it up as best as I can on the weaker satellite (which one of the two is it?) and then move the other LNB without touching the dish? I have them mounted on an LNB holder with a sliding attachment. If I have understood correctly then I need to wire the coax into a Diseqc switch (as close as possible to the LNBs or does it make no difference?) and then the single wire goes down to the receiver. I am using an Edision Trojan as receiver (this will be for FTA only). Thanks for any help!

depends on the size of this dish, but for the uk 60cm or bigger is usually sufficient, although an 80cm dish is ideal (like mine is)

2 lnb,s and an lnb rack will do the task, normally with the main lnb pointed at hotbird and astra as the offset

the astra offset will be on the left if looking into the face of the dish

ideally the diseqc switch is near the dish and one cable to the receiver (no it doesnt matter but its less cable this way)

there are previous threads on this, with pictures too, showing how its done, most also include a 3rd lnb , further to the left, pointed at astra 2 at 28e

check the links on post #5 here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ellite-425924/

you setup the diseqc simple switch settings on your receiver, check the instruction manual for doing this

you would be using A and B of a 2 or 4 way diseqc switch for 2 satellites , most people also add a C for 28e too

I would use A for astra 19e and B for hotbird 13e in the box settings and on the switch too

I hope you got set up ramjet. I've used 2, 4, and 8 diseqc in the past and because I done a lot of chopping and changing with the switch I found that some of the solder inside cracked from constant screwing on or off cables.
So I cut some small short runs of cable and attached them permanently to the switch and using an F barrel on the other end of the short cable for connecting to lnbs solved the damage to the diseqc switch.
