    Unsure of what linux receiver?

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to get into the world of a linux receiver. Presently have a clarke tech 3100 + receiver, similiar to the technomate 5400 but with mine the tuner isn't as sensitive, on a motorised 80cm dish. I like the look of the technomate tm9100 plus it's also got component output, which would fit in with other audio visual gear.

Are there other receivers with more support etc as i do like to tinker to get the most. The more i keep looking, the more i'm going round in circles. Eagle box, nanoxx,500 clones etc. Looking to pay ?150 tops and obviously at that price not worried about HD.

    Any help/advice appreciated.

    Cheers
    Shaun

Stick to dreambox m8 and you'll not go far wrong, the support is superb and even the basic dm500s will keep you busy although it doesn't have a lot of outputs. Dm600s has an ide interface to add HD for PVR and then theres the dm800 with HD capability although a little over your budjet.

if you add ?20 to your budget you will get a dreambox 800HD. They used to be expensive but the price has fall to the ground

          Hi thanks for that everyone,

Thinks its a toss up between the technomate 600 or the dreambox. What are the main reputable sellers for the dreambox 500s 600?

          Thanks

In the end decided to go for the tm 600. Delivered yesterday, setup straightforward, scanned all satellites.

Then decided to load UR image on the box (is that the best?) and then realised all the scanning had to be done again.

Does anyone have any pointers/know of any tutorials on how to get the most from this box. I'm learning gradually!!!!

                Cheers

A little tip, save your channel list, then when you load a new image and it gets to scan satellites exit out. Then reload channel list.

personally i use "dreambox edit" and it works fine.

remember to reboot enigma after you put the channels from your hard disk to the box.
