What setup do i need to watch showtime arabia sports channels ??

    Hi guys

i am intersted in installing a satellite system in order to watch the showtime arabia channels.

I have recenty noticed that they show almost all premiership games live on saturdays.

Does anybody know what is the best system to install to watch these channels and what i need to buy ??

Somebody told me i need a 2 meter dish and is this true???

Also i you could point me in the right direction of where the best place to buy the equipment that would also be great.

    I am based in london.

    Thanks

    hi m8,
these channels are on nilesat 7w and you will need a very large dish from your possition i think you will need at least a 1.5 or 1.8 mtr dish to get a good signal from the horizontal tp's that the premiership football is on, and the further north and west you are the bigger the dish, in cheshire where i am the local pubs use 2 mtr dishes. i have a 1.2 mtr dish and only
get the vertical chns but they only open in the early morning and evenings in good weather and rain i get nothing. there is also the problem getting permission for very large dishes in built up erea's and the cost

hi you will need a minum of a 1.8m dish(which will need planning permission) and a subscription to showtime most recivers will do,showtime is changing encryption so if you are going to the expense of a large dish i would buy a suscription also as the dish would be a prime focus dish you would need a c120 lnb type with a matching feed horn to be honest i would look at a 1m dish with a motor and a dreambox or other linux base reciver and you will open nearly every football game with a little know how
there are many good sat shop out there wizard seems to sell the equipment you need but keep away from the dishes at maplins as they have problems with them

unless if one wanna watch all those other small teams like wolves, hull, notts county etc, EPL games can all be found on 13e and 19.2e with a 90cm motorised dish.

i wouldnt want a 2.5M dish taking up 3/4 of my garden space

Showtime is moving to 25.5e but i hate heard that even a bigger dish is required than to the nilesat requirements.

              hi m8,
              25.5e do you mean 23.5e? i dont have a sat at 25e
in my receiver software, if it is 23.5e i get a good reception
from this sat on a 1.2 mtr dish in cheshire so it should able
to receive this sat in the south of the uk

                All.

Copy and paste from some other forum:-

                Eurobird 2 25.5E permalink

                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eurobird 2 is the old Hottie 5. She has a fixed beam and a super beam and is transmitting into the Mediterranean and Middle East area.

                Also:-

It's not possible unless you've got a dish the size of Jodrell Bank. The edges of the beam come nowhere near the UK.

The nearest beam for eurobird 2 25.5e is in germany and this is the edge of the footprint and requires a dish size of 1.5 to 1.9 there..so in the uk you are looking at 2-3 m at least...this is the beam with the footie on...
Now the edge of nilesat 101 beam is at southern spain, but only requires a 65cm dish making it accessible in northern uk on a 2-2.5m dish...so you might as well just go for nilesat instead,as this carries the full orbit/showtime package!
