    Installation Of New Motorised Dish

    Hi All

Just looking for a bit of advice on what i should do.

I'm looking to install a Triax TD88 dish along with a Technomate TM2600 Motor. We are going to have an extension built shortly on our property so the back of the house is no longer an option. The mrs also thinks its a eye sore so i can't have it there anymore. She also doesn't know about the new Triax TD88 dish...not yet anyway

I'm thinking of installing it on the side of our house so the dish is popping just above the roof. How should i install it? I'm looking at T & K brackets along with an alloy pole. What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi if you going to put up an 88cm dish that high.......i hope you have a good ladder......because every time there are strong winds you will be up there the day after resetting it

Just a thought....good luck with your new project

Looking at the 2 dishes you have up
Is there anything at the bottom of your garden ??

If not concrete a pole in the ground & mount it on that.....again if the line of sight is good

Dont use an alloy pole you need something similar to a Scaffold pole or there abouts, if its installed correctly and you dont get a lot of High Winds that we have had in the last couple of years you should be good to go

        Cheers guys. I'm looking at 12" t & k brackets and a 6 foot x 2.0 inch x 14 gauge (2.0mm) pole.

Could i get much better than this?

        Thanks again

Yes i can't mount in garden as it will be affected east by high trees. I figured it would be less noticeable if i placed it just in front of the ridge of the roof.

If i use scaffolding pole will it still lock in with the u bolts against the t & k brackets?

          Thanks

mine is held with car exhaust clamp u bolts, they come in different sizes from any car spares shop (the supplied U bolts were too narrow)

yes m8, u bolts with nuts and a metal bridge , they do different sizes, cant remember what size mine are but I suspect around 1.75 inches or more as I think scaffold pole is 2 inches, so they could be up to 2 inches or so , so maybe between 45mm and 52 mm

Standard scaff pole is around 50mm (2") diameter standard V/U-Bolts will hold it no problem but a Scakk pole carries some weight due to it being around 5mm thick so if you use one the car Exhaust clamps as ramjet suggested are a good choice.

With it going above roof height try and get a larger spread of the pole below the roof line than what goes above, and possibly think about doing a K-K-K or K-T-K arrangement down the wall which would involve the purchase of 2 sets of T&K's.

Just thinking about the Wind factor some support bars for the pole attached to the wall would not go a miss either just to be on the safe side

Thanks. I'll get 2 packs of t & k's and K - T - T - K it or something. I'll also get some exhaust clamps to lock it in with. When you say support bars for the wall..what else would i need apart from 2 packs of t & k's.

Seen a few houses with a setup im after and only have 1 set of t & k's so should be bang on with 2 sets.

                    Thanks again

looking at the pics mate on the bay it looks as if its the same principle and you just tighten the nuts up after threading them through.

You also put one on top of the pole just underneath where the motor sits so you can easily adjust the motor without fear of it slipping down the pole while fine adjustments are made.

By support bars i mean something which will keep the dish rigid in high winds as vibration normally travels down the pole which could have an affect on your T&K fixings, easily done by yourself buy some a pole lengh say 15-20mm thick cut to lengh then flatten either end say 35-45mm drill a hole in either end attach another exhaust clamp near the top of the pole then attach either support bar and bolt on, then drill either end into adjacent wall.

These are just rough guides you could alter to suit see Pic of what i mean

You can use them instead of just the normal U/V-Bolts the choice is yours
