HI I'm new to this, and I've got a serious problem i really hope some of the intelligent people on this can help me out cos i aint got a clue n the wife is giving me gref cos the tv box i wanted aint working .
I got an amiko alien mini and i think its got enigma 2 running on it (the 1 that looks like sky). when i turn it on it goes automatically to radio stations and i won't give me any options to switch to tv channels. also I'm missing some channels such as movies, i keep hearing that i need to update the box but i really don't know how to. and also the guy who sold me it (who now won't return my calls) told me that the box can play movies, sports, documentaries etc through plugins but none of which work!!! Please if some one can give me a shout back and help this poor man out before the wife either leaves or beats him to death with this amigo alien 2, please!!!! Thanks for your time!!!

never had your box but as many channels have recently moved transponders on 28.2e then you need to either rescan or install a new channel list (preferably the latter) - these changes to astra 2g included movies , sport and many other channels too

so that is true on any 3rd party box , its the owners responsibility, they are not "plug and play"

as for these plugins, many isp`s block the links causing them to fail , so its essential to get these updated wherever possible as matters can change on a daily basis

so with these boxes you have to learn some D.I.Y. and keep it serviced and up to date , which is sometimes a steep learning curve

if his isnt good enough for you or your partner, get a legit subscription and let the supplier do all the work for you, which millions do

I know there are dedicated forums out there for your box, maybe go find them and look at the latest advice on them ?

ps:- assuming your old channel list is intact, there will be a button on the remote to switch to tv or radio as required, press it to toggle from one to the other

looking at the remotes on e**y it seems to be the button below the number 7

a google search tells people to use ONLINE UPDATE on the box for a new channel list, or usb update by going to their website and downloading the latest channel file (hint - think of molten rock from a volcano)
