Streaming freesat over my lan to PC / Tablet / Phone

Hi guys, first post here so be gentle

Have been using a PCI sat card in my PC for years to view freesat in a window on one of my monitors.

But the card is getting dated and the software likewise.

Thinking of getting a stand alone tvbox that will stream to my lan and which I can access through something like VLC or web interface.

Before you answer please note: I dont want it to hog the entire monitor unless I choose to watch fullscreen.

So what sort of box, running what sort of software and what sort of budget am I looking at ?

Not interested in pay TV, and not really interested in all the online TV ( which my pc gets anyway ).

    Thanks in advance

      Thank you digicon.

I was hoping that would be the case, but it seems most people want to do it the other way and view online content on the TV.

Rather than view TV content on a PC.

So assuming I get an E2 box, what sort of quality can I expect ?

Also what sort of control will I have from my PC or tablet , channel changing and epg etc.

Pretty much HD for the Freesat channels BBC1 HD etc.. internally it would just be a case of entering the box IP in a browser window then letting VLC playback the .m3u stream created by the box itself, you can also stream externally if you have a decent enough BB upload speed by opening a corresponding port on your router to access outdoors or away from home.

you will have full access to channel lists and EPG via Pc/Laptop/tablet/phone

No Problem it looks like you know your way around the software side of things so you should be good to go.

            Good Luck
