Has anyone else experience problems with...

    Openvix, specifically on Gigablue Quad?

I've been using OpenRSI 4.0 for a while now and apart from being a bit clunky it's been probably the most stable I've used.

Anyway, last night I fancied a change and went about flashing the new Openvix, clean from scratch and ran into problems almost immediately. ABM doesn't want to play ball, can't read data, it doesn't like playing anything from hard disk even after a 3 pass format using EXT4. For example, if I FTP a film over that I know RSI would have play vix will almost certainly crash seconds into the film and require a mains off/on, if on the odd occasion it does play there will be no FF or RW and stutters like you wouldn't believe? If I flick through the EPG and there's a channel that CrossEPG hasn't populated it'll crash, trying to select USB or HDD as a home for the downloaded EPG it'll crash. It seems the only thing Vix does well at the minute is crash?

I'm all for trying a new image so if anyone has a recommendation for the Gigablue Quad please LMK.

I dont use the OpenVix image myself but when i had my Quad+ i always swore by the OpenATV image never had issues and i like the fact that they keep there Emulator Cams especially one that ends in _Emu cant go into detail due to forum rules.

I think a lot of members use OpenVix without issue although i am unsure if they maybe having some slight niggles with the latest incarnation after the Hades image not sure what its called, which version are you using and have you tried an earlier release

Funny you should mention ATV - flashing that as I type. 'Was' using the latest Hades version 18 but to be honest at-least for me was a big bag of worms. The last straw was crashing when backing out of a recorded program. If left to it's own devices it would eventually play, just that you couldn't FF, RW, STOP, PAUSE or otherwise enjoy what you were watching for fear VIX would notice and crash!

I could't say with any confidence what the last build I used but it was solid, after that all seemed to go to pot with VIX. Pity!

Never thought about how to get the softcam working again, just assumed it was much like the rest of them. That could be a problem :|

With respect to forum rules I take it a little direction by PM is a no no?

Did you sack your Giga off Digicon?

i use vix and has the odd niggle, one has to start from scratch and dont use settings restore, your hdd would have to be mounted correctly to work, important numbers for use 1.38 or 2.30 only for multi tuner boxes.
usually when looking at a recording i press stop on remote and goes to list of recorded items with yellow on program you viewed, red button to delete- exit out returns to last channel viewed.

I am the type of person who likes to try new Technology as it appears or try other brands be it cheaper or dearer, I got shut of the Giga Quad due to its poor DVB-C tuner and replaced it with a Technomate Nano-3T which has its niggles but the DVB-C/T/T2 tuner is far superior and the DVB-S2 ones are not too shabby either so no complaints so far, eventually it will make way for another model no doubt

Well I admit defeat! OpenRSI it is. Couldn't get ATV or HDF working with a softcam.
