Whilst I support any user who wants to upgrade from an openbox, sometimes the problems you describe are easily fixed.

'Loosing channels' is a frequent problem with an openbox due to channel frequency changes, easy to fix just install the latest Cwaite's channel list available on the openbox subforum. An enigma2 box (vu+solo & zgemma) has a plugin called 'AutoBouquetsMaker' which auto scans for frequency channels changes and amends your channel list as required.
'Forever Freezing' if you mean the picture just freezes then there could be a problem with your dish/cable or LNB, if it freezes with a 'dollar' sign displayed then there's nothing wrong with your box, your #### is sh1t get a new one as the same will happen on any new box you buy.

HD, no $kyHD on sat at the moment, only Free to view HD ie BBC1, ITV and C4 also BT HD ie BT sports1 and Irish HD ie setenta, RTE and TV3.
3d also went blank a long time ago.
Picture quality, IMHO I find that it's the software not the hardware that dictates picture quality, on my zgemma I found the openvix software image was soft and poor but the openatv image gave a much sharper picture, but one thing was common with both images that SD will always look pants on a 40 inch+ TV.

You can go wrong with upgrading your openbox, but whats your budget?

If budget isn't an issue and you want HD/3D did you get motorised setup when you had the new dish installed? If not you should have, no point buying the dog's danglies box when you can only recieve a handful of HD channels. Your money would have been better spent on maximising your reception potential not trying to upscale SD. No matter how much you polish a turd, it will always be turd.

Top quality advice there given by happy_h, if your dish is fixed at 28e then why spend more when a Zgemma will do the job at half the price of other e2 boxes. That's if you can't sort out the problems with your f5s.
