    Hispassat without Satellite Dish

    Hi All,

My current set up is a satellite dish pointed at 28.2East. I cannot point my Satellite dish to 30West due to trees at the rear garden.

Is it possible to watch 30West without a Satellite dish. If so please advise on the setup so i can further research.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards

they must be tall tree's my dish faces the next door house's gable end
that's about 20 feet away and the dish overlooks the house
if your dish is to near the tree's can you move the dish? also
are the tree's yours can you not cut them back to get a clear view

Hi. You should be able to pick up Hispasat with a dish low on the ground as satellite signals can be picked up from any height. Also if you are after Spanish channels on 30 west you can also pick them up on the Astra1 sateliite at 19.2 east. If you are after the Portuguese channels on 30 west then you will need to point the dish to 30 west. A 60cm dish should be ok for 30 west as signals are very strong in the UK.

i guess these must be Leylandii they grow like mad if not topped
not sure if your saying 15 mtr high surly trees at fifty feet high
would not be allowed,if you were saying 1.5 mtr high that should
not be a problem, you could ask your local council about the tree's
they could have to be reduced in height i would google for info on
          how tall they are allowed

Benny i have tried all sorts and cannot find 30 West with an 80cm dish. i also phoned a professional satellite company which came out and wanted to charge ?300 and would not guarantee they could locate 30W the trees are approximately 3-5 meters in height

is there any ways i can upload a photo here??

Guys thanks for your help so far much appreciated

when you post click the advance button and use the File upload to attach any pictures, even at 5 meters a dish placed on a chimney will easily have a clear line of sight.

the average 2 storey property from bottom brick to roof apex averages from around 6-9 meters in height

Hi My friend first of all do not pay the 300 pounds without guarantees . Have you tried to find the satellite from ground level and dish need to be pointing to the right and make sure you have correct frequency etc. Just because you have trees does not stop the satellite signal from being picked up ..you need to locate the correct angle for the dish. If you live near London i may be able to help you if required. Dont give up as i am sure you will find it. I have come across this type of problems before and been resolved.

Hi looking at photo 1 i see you have plenty of clear skies all around the house so 30 west should have a signal coming through from somewhere ...its just a question of tweaking the dish to find correct angle.

                    Regards

Hi It is a wonderful and exciting hobby especially when things go right. In my opinion its not difficult to find satellites...you just need patience and common sense and never give up.
