1 NEW OUT OF THE BOX (NEW RECEIVER)
You will need to connect you box to your router using a straight, not crossover RJ45 patch Ethernet cable. (It is possible to purchase separate wireless devices).
Connect your dish set up to LNB in.
Connect to your TV.
It would be unusual to find the latest software installed out of the box.
Don?t spend time looking though the menu structure, setting up your dish configuration or scanning in channels, you will need to do it all again when the latest software is installed.
Check the current BT (Boot) and SW (Software) by pressing EXIT then the MEMU button. If it reads BT: 1.33 or 1.34 the BT is OK. If BT is not 1.33 or 1.34 you will need to install it. If the SW reads SW: v1.xx where xx is two digits then this is the original software and need to be updated with the latest software.
The original software installed in new receivers does not support AUTO UPDATE CHECK, S/W UPGRADE or Webloader features.
To install BT or latest software you will need to connect a RS232 Null modem cable between your box and PC. If your PC hasn?t got a RS232 port you will need a USB to RS232 adapter. Goto the section UPLOADER v1.3 and then return to this point.
After loading the latest software use down arrow to select SYSTEM SETTINGS, press OK, then use the down arrow to select FACTORY DEFAULTS and press OK. Enter PARENTAL CONTROL PASSWORD (Default 0000) and press OK.
Do all the usual things you do with a satellite receiver.
Follow the user manual.
Enter the settings under MENU ? INSTALLATION - ANTENNA SETTING. You need to make these settings for each satellite you intend to scan. If you are using a motor on your dish that support USALS then I recommend you use this rather than DiSEqC 1.2 as the manual movements are not fine enough to get a good signal without lots of work. If your dish system is set up correctly the USALS will give exultant results. Don?t forget to set correct longitude and latitude under MOTOR SETTINGS.
Now scan in the satellites you require using MENU - CHANNEL SEARCH. Select the satellite by pressing OK on SATELLITE. Select the required satellite and press OK. Set SCAN OPTIONS to TV ONLY (saves space) and SEARCH CHANNELS to NETWORK SEARCH (adds new transponders) and press OK. After saving the scanned channels for each satellite use the EXIT key to exit the menu structure before going back in to scan another satellite. If you don?t do this you may loose the channels you have saved. I don?t recommend using the MULTI SAT SEARCH FEATURE as again channels do not always store.

Download the required files from Protek software section on this site and uncompress the Zip files. Connect RS232 Null modem cable to box and PC with box off at mains. When the count reaches 100 on the bar a message will appear underneath stating ?Transferring_complete Press OK (several sec to write)?
Press OK. The message will change to ?Downloading has been completed?
The display on the box once it has reached 100 will change to ?hold?, then after a delay 5 to 20 seconds to ?900d?, then ?0000?
You have successfully loaded the software.
4 LOADING BOOT or SOFTWARE BIN FILES.
If you wish to load BT, boot software or your current software does not support AUTO UPDATE CHECK or S/W UPGRADE or Webloader features, see USING UPLOADER VERSION 1.3 in the section above. The Uploader can also be useful if for some reason you are having problems with the AUTO UPDATE CHECK feature, or S/W UPGRADE or Webloader. AUTO UPDATE CHECK feature followed by the S/W UPGRADE and Webloader are the easiest ways to load software bin files,. BT boot software MUST be loaded using the Uploader v1.3.
5 AUTO UPDATE CHECK
With AUTO UPDATE CHECK set to ON.
Every time you turn on your box it will check for new software and keys. If it detects that that new files are available an on screen message will appear providing information on the update that is available. Select UPDATE to perform an auto update. If the download persistently fails you will have to load the software using the Webloader or uploader v1.3.
6 S/W UPGRADE feature (If for any reason you do not wish to use AUTO UPDATE CHECK)
LOADING KEYS

You can use FILE 1 DOWNLOAD to download keys. Press OK and enter the following address
xvision.skynolimit.com/key/kxx.bin where xx is the latest key number.

LOADING SOFTWARE
Press MENU ? INTERNET ? S/W UPGRADE
You can use FILE 2 DOWNLOAD to download software. Press OK and enter the following address
xvision.skynolimit.com/key/xxx.bin where xxx is the latest software version.
The http:// is automatically filled in. Press the RED button to start the download. The box will reboot automatically at the end of the download.
If the download persistently fails you will have to load the software using the Webloader or uploader v1.3.
7 OPERATING NOTES
The BT, SW and K can be checked by pressing the menu button.
Whilst on a channel press OK, then BLUE button, for further information.
Also checkCode:Onlinelist
8 WEBLOADER
Webloader is a feature that let you download bin files except BT files without using a RS232 cable.
You don't need any software for this, just open an internet browser on a PC and enter the IP address of the receiver, found under MENU ? INTERNET ? NETWORK INFORMATION ?IP ADDRESS e.g. 192.168.0.4 where you would normally enter www. etc in you PC. Do not enter any leading zeros. Thus 192.168.000.004 becomes 192.168.0.4 Note DHCP/STATIC must be set to DHCP so IP address files in automatically.
Click go on your internet browser and a dialogue box should then open and ask for a username and password. The default username is admin and the PARENTAL CONTROL PASSWORD (Default 0000). Once these have been entered, you can browse to the bin files you want to upload. Channels list, digital.bin file can also be uploaded to the receiver.
You can download your channel list using CHANNEL BACKUP to give a file called chdata.bin. This file backs up your channel list plus other settings. The file on my PC comes out as chdata.zip and I have to change the extension from zip to bin. Open the chdata.bin file in the channel editor V1.6 (available from the Protek software section) and then save it as a backup file, digital.bin. If for some reason the file won?t open, delete both files and try again. It?s a good idea to check your favourite lists, if they look wrong delete the files and try again. If needed, you can then download digital.bin using webloader to restore your channel list and other settings.
Before attempting to restore your channel list perform a FACTORY DEFAULT (reset) under MENU ? SYSTEM SETTINGS. Also under MENU ? INTERNET- NETWORK INFORMATION set DHCP to STATIC then back to DHCP. Connect using the webloader and download the channel list as described above. After the download check your INTERNET settings under MENU and check ANTENNA SETTINGS under MENU ? INSTALLATION, including Longitude and Latitude, if using USALS, under MOTOR SETTING.
You can use the channel editor to make changes. Always keep a copy of the original channel list in case the one you are editing goes wrong or strange things happen when you load it back to your box. The editor is not perfect and can mess things up.

10 DOWNLOADING KEY/SOFTWARE PROBLEMS

For them try putting this address in your PC internet explorer, you should then be asked to save the file. The bin file can then be downloaded to the box using the webloader or Uploader V1.3.
