Hi digicon, so I couldn't use partition master to format it to ext4? I have an old laptop with Ubuntu I'm thinking I may have to dig it out, I'm really regretting getting the zgemma now should of went for the gigablue quad, I formatted it to ext4 with partition master and its saying the drive is not readable does it have to be mounted in the box before it can be read? pulling my hair out here really don't remembering it being this hard just to set up timeshift/recording

You need to Mount it as a /media/hdd in the device manager before the hard drive will be seen

Hi Guys, I was looking at purchasing the same box, But after reading this Im now not so sure.

Is the :Zgemma Star 2S Twin Tuner Satellite Receiver easier to configure?

Newbie question but does the image have the sky channels included? and if you don't have an internet LAN connection but very weak WiFi connection can we still update the channels as required?

        regards

You need to check your mounting is correct and check your timeshift setup is pointing to the correct folder, the 2nd part is easy to miss. I have used OpenViX with FAT32, it throws up an error msg but timeshifts anyway. Using EXT3 or EXT4 it timeshifts OK. You can format the drive in Windows using FAT32 formatter, set to EXT3 but best to remove all partitions first

I've got recording working! by mounting it as digicon said it starting recording as it should! if others are having the same problem I formatted the drive using a third party tool then initialised it on the zgemma box it worked!! can't remember if I'm now using ext3 or 4!! not to sure!! but for the life of me I cannot get timeshift working I have set it to the right folder, it just does nothing when I press pause, I think I may flash the vix image and try that its the only image aprt from openpli that I haven't tried yet, don't be put of KB007, I think the problems I'm having is either due to the fact my box is the new zgemma and its a software problem or I'm doing something wholely retarded, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right I never had this problem on other enigma boxes.,, think it's time to flash a non (proper) image

I found it!!! I think I've found the bug!!!! it's to do with the path links in the timeshift settings page!! for some reason even though its the right path and it displays the right amount of storage space left in the settings page, the link seems to be broken, I'm not a programmer so don't quote me, if the link is /media/hdd/ it should work.. but it doesn't if you change it and direct it to just /hdd/ as the timeshift location save it, try to pause it will give you an error about about broken links and hardrive not ext2 or 3 ignore the error and restart your box then try and timeshift and it should work, can any of your pro's explain why this works?

I was using open driod image I'm now about to flash openatv and try it on there as I prefer it as it feels more smooth

The correct timeshift path should be /media/hdd or usb/timeshift/ (don't forget the first and final slash) unless the drive has been mounted to another location. Best to check device manager for the correct drive mount location then create a timeshift folder on that drive (if there's not one there) and change the timeshift settings to suit.

Just to update everyone, I have given up on openatv the problems with timeshift was not worth it, I finally got it working but every time I changed channel I would get an error message but time shift still worked, no doubt this is a bug and probably be worked out in later updates, long story short I flash open vix and I wished I did this from the start, cross epg already there, no crashing or error msgs, timeshift just worked no need to change any settings, the only setting I had to change was how may setting into the channel it would start recording, even the recording directory was already correct, the Vix image even though it's not officially supported seems to me anyway so much better, witch seems crazy when its not even the official image, anyhoo I hope others reading this having problem like me, may help may not, don't really want to be using open vix but seems i have no choice. but if it aint broke don't fix it right?
