    upgrade/Change

Hello. hope someone can assist. I am looking to change my set up. Currently have 2 dishes ( 80cm for Astra 23.5 ) and a bog standard Sky dish (receiving FTA only). Want to change the single LNB on the 80 cm so that I can get Astra 19.2, 23.5 and 28.2. So that I can get my current channels + some extra and remove the Sky dish from the wall.

I have a Amiko HD3800 receiver in my lounge and I think ( not sure) that it will be able to pick up from all 3 satellites with the right LNB and then I can keep the Skybox upstairs for the free channels on 28.2.

Would like some feedback and also is there anyone on the Medway area of Kent who might be able to install what ever I choose to use? I have been looking at the following http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/m...#3satmonoblock

    Thoughts please

get rid of the sky dish and on the 80cm as you say you will be able to receive all 3 even 4 if you fancy 13? east as well, Scrap that ?90 SSS rip off merchants if you ask me.

Get 3 LNB's Multibracket and 4 way diseqc switch and you should still have change out of ?40 ?50 if you want to go for 4 sats

if you are trying to run 2 receivers (one multi sat, and one up stairs just sky) I would keep the sky disc and feed that direct from the sky disc, then you could go either as digicon says with a multi bracket and diseqc switch, or go for a motorised disc,
with the multi-bracket you need the bracket & LNB for each sat you wish to view + the diseqc switch
with the motorised disc you only need to add the motor, as long as your receiver can power the motor
I went the route of the multi-bracket it worked ok, then I wanted more sat's so I had to get a motor,
So I would suggest Keeping the Sky disc with a feed up stairs (and a feed downstairs in case motor breaks or disc moves allowing you to watch sky if nothing else downstairs) and the main downstairs feed coming off a motorised disc
If your like me I wanted the 3pm kick offs and watch sky sports news at half time without any waiting time for disc moving, so got a receiver with twin tuners (vu+ duo first now a vu solo2)
one tuner has sky disc feed the other has motorised disc feed

To watch 3pm you will need a huge dish or just watch whatever game is being shown on setanta on 28.2e and the dish doesn't take long to move (you make it sound like you waste most of half time waiting on the dish moving) yes you are correct that a motor will get you much more sats and a wide choice of footie. Fixed dish multi sat will also get you a good choice of matches and films though. I have fixed dish multi sat but would also recommend a motorised system due to the wider choice that's is available for free by means of biss and other keys. There is a fair amount that can be picked up on the main euro sats with a fixed dish for free and the cost will be around the same for equipment as you will need 4 lnb for fixed with just one for motor. There are plenty guides on here and if they are followed to the letter you will be able set everything up yourself.

I very rarely use my Motorised dish these days if only to watch the odd Live feed, My beloved team in say a capital one game or FA cup where even the usual sources do not have it showing or perhaps even the very rare EPL feed.

I used it last night for the Boxing on 10? east a nice clean Box office Feed appeared in HD so was a no brainer really but apart from that its pretty much parked on 0.8? west 99% time, my main viewing is the Footie and nothing else so with the other 80cm with 13-19-23-28 east LNB's that pretty much does me for 99% of the viewing.

This day and age it foes appear that IPTV and streaming are slowly but surely taking over i myself pretty much download anything i want to watch be it a Movie or a TV series with the introduction of fast fibre and catchup TV live viewing seems to be becoming a thing of the past, possibly in the next few years the Motorised dish user will fall back to how it was when i started in the late 80's and become more of a 'Niche' market again who knows

I don't get good enough internet to go down the IPTV/streaming route,
when I said 3 pm kick offs I can get the ones I want to watch,
I agree turning the dish does not take much time, but I wanted it there right away (just like I switch from ITV to BBC on a tv)

Fixed dish multi sat then. I have standard sky mini dish with quad lnb and triax 88cm with 4 twin inverto black ultra on it the triax picks up between 4.8e to 28.2 atm I have it set at 13, 19.2, 23.5, 28.2 with a couple of diseqc switches sending the multi to one tuner on two seperate twin sat tuner boxes with the sky dish serving the other tuner on both boxes so that i still have the ability to watch and record two different 28.2 channels a couple of vm cable feeds to my combo boxes finish the setup.
