    whats the difference??

Please could someone explain in plain english what the difference is between a dreambox, a humax - bought direct from humax, and a bush box or humax bought from high street retailer?? Im not too bothered about a pvr or even HD but would obviously like to achieve a similar service!!!! to the eurovox cable box I had.
I have no cable in new location (Angus - Scotland) but do have a dish installed with a quad LNB. (ex sky)

    Thanks in advance.

I cannot comment on a humax box because I have never owned one of those boxes. I have had a dreambox and eurovox box so I can tell you something about those two boxes. An eurovox box is basically a plug and play box i.e you plug into cable and do your scan and get all your channels. A dreambox is like a pc and requires a little more work before you can view all the channels. Cable is hacked so you will be able to recieve all the channels on cable including S*y. Satellite is not hacked so you will NOT get all the channels on sat including S*y however you will get all the FTA channels. You may want have read of this sticky.

I think curious is referring to Sky uk not being hacked as the original poster said he had a dish pointing at 28.2e with a quad lnb.

I'm pretty sure he knows that there is lots out there that can be opened with keys and even more with other methods.

          more info?

          Thanks Guys,
I appreciate the answers. What I was more concerned with was if there are any restrictions on boxes branded as Bush, Grundig, Humax etc as being sold by Argos/Comet etc OR.... do all boxes have the same capabilities (with a little work and help from DK for example) as say the dreambox range?

          Thanks.

If you are looking at Argos etc than you are looking at 'Free To Air' boxes which basically means there is nothing you can do to these boxes to get what you really want.
