    9760HD No Signal

I have protek 9750HD IP connected to a motorised dish (which i rarely move). All was working just fine including thru recent storms, up until a few days ago, and now in a period of calm it displays no signal.
I have turned off several times, and checked cables, connections and settings, all seem ok.
Have also checked dish and seems in correct orientation, connections are dry, but there is no green light on motor!
Quality & Strength show nothing on screen.
I am at a loss as what to do next....any ideas please....

Hi It seems to me that problem is either the motor or the cable as there is no green light on. Check cable behind receiver first and make sure its in properly. Then check cable going to motor and make sure its in properly - you can try to toggle the cable to see if light flickers. Its always best to check cable with a cheap sat meter to see if power is coming from receiver otherwise motor aint going to work and if motor dont work neither will the LNB as it takes power from the motor.

Ok thanks, I had disconnected all cables to check them, and no response upon re-connection - as good as toggling.
If i don't need the motor, can i connect the the two cables (if i have coupling connector) to see if that does the trick?
      Can the LNB fail?
Will check all again in daylight tomorrow.

Hi When you disconnected the cables did you put them in the correct locations ie cable coming from receiver needs to go to connector marked MOTOR and LNB cable to LNB . Of course LNB can fail just like any other piece of equipment but in my experience i am pretty sure its not the LNB as problem appears to be lack of power to motor. You could connect the motor cable straight to the LNB to see if you get a picture but you will need to know which satellite you think you were on and check channels on that satellite. Also check signal quality in installations as it may give clue to where problem lies - my bet is that its a cable problem . By the way what motor do you have??

protek boxes are single tuner box so no idea why 2 cables, top cable port is the one used for motor control of dish.if nothing was changed more like dish moved .

Hi Of course you need two cables - one for motor and one for LNB. The motor supplies the LNB with power so if motor not working for whatever reason then no pictures will be transmitted - pretty simple to understand in my opinion. All receivers have this setup as far as i know

Yes you can use a Coupler to test the LNB directly to your receiver to see if the dish has become mis-aligned in anyway. Take both cables out beneath the motor and then connect them together with the coupler job done

When i mentioned two cables, I meant one from LNB to motor, then other from motor to box, SIMPLES!
How did people get so confused on this!?!
Anyway motor is a Technomate TM-2300M.
And got sorted....tried another longer cable direct from box to motor through house, and worked.
Inspected previous cable better, and was corroded inside the exterior end fitting.
                  Thanks for everyones input.

when others mention 2 cables, one thinks of a twin tuner box like vu duo.

when others talk about motorized dishes you always need TWO cables regardless of single or twin tuners. Anyway told you it was a cable problem as it was pretty obvious
