It is possible, you need to modify some files in the usr folder in the root of the Zgemma, however this will only work on an Openvix image it causes blue screen issues with openatv.
As you know I now use Openatv so gave up on this feature, but if your using Openvix and want the files let us know and I'll post them.
You can easily add channel numbers to the 'Fav' channel menu via
fav-menu-settings-show channel number in channel selection = yes
