Real life review required for xtrend et8000 please

As the title says can anybody tell me what these boxes are like to live with especially running openAtv. I know they will be fairly quick but is there anything I should know about as it's for a non tech family member 400 miles away and I really can't be assed driving that distance if something goes wrong .

    Cheers Techy peeps

They have been around since the Vu+ models appeared so quite a few years now, Not much difference really both the Vu+ and the Xtrend series are geared towards the German market.

The ET8000 runs the same chipset as the Vu+Solo2 and your very own Gigablue Quad+ so should be identical to setup and day to day running should be as simple as the others.

I think they class the 8000 as Mid-Market in there range as the other top 2 models the 8500 and the 10000 have 4 x P&P slots.

Cactikid is the man to ask as i think he still has one although if i remember the first one he had developed a fault straight away so not sure if he changed it for the 10000 model instead.

Cheers digi. It looks like I'm going to buy one for myself first as a replacement for my uno at least that way if anything goes wrong image wise i can just send them a backup . Or the whole box if i don't like it.

Cheers cacti. I ordered mine earlier this evening. I have vix on my quad atm cause atv keeps going out of sync and it's reminded me why i moved to atv in the first place. Don't get me wrong i don't hate vix but i do like the additional config on atv

All set up running atv and I'd say the channel change is quite a bit quicker than my quad using vix. So I'd have to say I'm definately impressed. Especially since it was only half the price of my quad with twin sat and single cable. Granted my quad+ was bought as soon as it was released but I'm happy with a triple tuner of this calibre for under 200 notes delivered.
