Dead protek 9750

Seems my trusty protek 9750 has died, power supply problem I think.
so I'm in the market for a new motorised receiver.
because of the protek auto update feature I'm abit out of the know on which receiver to buy.
anybody knowing the protek will know what sort of content I want to get, I want motorised receiver to help with that obviously.
im just after some suggestions on some receivers to buy?
i want a receiver that will be fairly easy to setup, keep upto date and good future support.
before the protek I used to have a technomate 5400 super(?), so I used to load ******* etc, but since forgot how, but I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to pick it back up.
so, I would like some suggestions of a few different receivers, from fairly cheap to the more expensive and if it's worth spending the extra?

The only one that i can think of at the moment that is similar to your requirements is the Hitech HB9000 comes with some form of IKS 12 month "you know what but" but will not have anything at all on 28.2 as did the protek.

Most of the other popular satellites are covered, Just needs a firmware patch when you buy it and your good to go seems to be plenty of support for it as it springs from the bowels of Darkman he of Spiderbox infamy.

The days of the Protek where it lasted until the MAC got switched off are few and far between i am afraid to say

Thanks for the reply, I'm not really that bothered about another protek type box, just wanted to check all my options.
im currently reading up on vu duo 2, just trying to find out exactly what it does, how hard to set up etc..
also reading that maybe I could connect 2 dishes to it, Ie one fixed one motorised.
the main problem at the moment is its like fight club

So I have been reading up on a few receivers, I'm currently torn between 2 (I think).
the first being a vu duo, this is obviously a high end receiver at around ?300, reading plenty of reviews it's a very very good receiver, but still have no idea on the content, so don't know if it's worth the extra outlay?
the second receiver which was recommended to me was the zgemma s2, again no idea on content so this is where I'm torn.
i have a motorised dish, so will be looking for content on more than one satellite.
is it worth me spending the extra on the vu duo?
i don't want the adage "buy cheap buy twice" biting me on the...

Just to let you know neither of those receivers have shall we say an inbuilt 'Gift' that works out of the box, For this you have to source these things yourself and then install them if you have never had an Enigma2 Linux receiver before and are not familiar with FTP,Telnet etc.. then your in for a very steep learning curve.

Not only that once you buy the receiver you have to source with more money something special to make it work, Thats how i have to word it for the forum rules.

Thats pretty much why i mentioned the Hitech HB9000, you just source the latest patched firmware install via USB and away you go comes with 12 months IKS

I knew they didn't come with a "gift", but thought this might be a slight advantage as it won't run out as such.
like you say I have no Linux experience at all, that's sort of worrying, I'm not completely useless, but am far from a wiz kid.
the "more money" you talk of, is it a one off payment or an ongoing thing?
