Looking to replace my old zgemma

    Hi all.
I have a zgemma s at the mo and looking to get a newer one . Is there a newer one out in the zgemma range and what would be the difference? I find the one I have now is not really that responseive. Is there one out that is more responsive?

The newest Zgemma single tuner is the Zgemma HS the main difference is a fast CPU with dual thread ability, so yes it's faster that the original S version. As I haven't used a HS, I'm stuck with a Zgemma 2s can't comment on how faster it is, but if I was to upgrade I would be getting a xtrend 8000 but that costs a lot more.

Zgemma HS is the bay haven't see them sold anywhere else, if you want to go big time then world of satellite website for the xtrend or perhaps an inbetween opinion might be the Edision OS mini a lot cheaper than the xtrend and better/official support than a Zgemma.

Do not just limit yourself to just the Zgemma Brand as @ martin035 has stated above there are other receivers some maybe slightly dearer and some not that will give you the same functionality and also if using Vix image use the official version and not patched: here are a few ideas that are quite close to the Zgemma HS range:

          Edison OS Mini 1x DVB-S2 tuner ?79

          Edison OS Mini 1x DVB-S2 & 1 x DVB-C/T/T2 ?99

          MiracleBox Premium Micro 1x DVB-S2 tuner ?79

          Vu+ Zero 1 x DVB-S2 Tuner ?99

          Technomate TM-Nano-SE Plus 1x DVB-S2 & 1 x Plug & Play tuner for either S2 or DVB-C/T/T2 (also takes internal hard drive 2.5") ?106.99

The next stage your up to around the ?160 bracket and above but you also get faster machines:

Xtrend ET8000 2 x DVB-S2 can take 3 Tuners all Plug & Play S2 or DVB-C/T/T2 (also takes internal hard drive) starts at ?159 Dual core 1300mhz processor

Gigablue HD Ultra UE 1 x Fixed DVB-S2 and 1 x Plug and play tuners (Also takes internal 2.5" hard drive) starts at ?149 BCM 7362 Dual Hyperthreading 750mhz processor

There are quite a few others as well out of all the ones i mentioned the Xtrend is certainly the best Bang for Buck receiver its the fastest one at that price, all the others run the same chipset and CPU as the newer Zgemma range.

Possibly the biggest difference you will find is the Build quality as most of the other are either manufactured in Chinese but assembled in Korea or made in korea etc.. the Build Quality feels way better than the cheaper Zgemma's

I've just bought a couple of xtrend et8000 and as it runs the same chipset as my gigablue quad+ there's nothing to choose between them except for looks and size. The only bad thing about the 8000 is not the silver colour or the fact it looks like an old dvd player but the fact it is 380mm wide and about 300 deep. The 8000 is a large box but this also allows more room for air distribution. Suffice to say she who rules the roost has banished it to the bedroom but if i didn't have the quad+ in living room that's where the 8000 would be going
