Looking for a sat receiver that wont break the bank, will take a FORUM RULES, but dont want to compromise on quality. A genuine dm 800 from Germany for under ?200, or the vu zero is a possibility. Any opinions on the Wetek hybrid sat/android box. I think the kodi side is good but how does it handle satellite/enigma2 compared to the dedicated boxes?
wetek for sat ?

If you want just a Sat receiver that won't breaking the bank then look at a Zgemma h2s the only down side is the build quality and lack of openvix support, but it does have Openatv support. But if you want better build quality and openvix support then look at the Edision OS mini.
As to the wetek, when it got released I thought it would the 'in' box but it seems not, might be due to the way it has to be set up, which is a shame as the android OS apparently works Kodi well. -
i too just got into this realm ! .. an as i wanted to get into this scene, but didnt want to put to much money in, as you ALWAYS learn after you buy your first product !
so i got a venz/videostrong/acemax Ki s805 dvb s2 box ... (comes under any of those brands !) as was under ?60 from (UK) eBay !
so its a android box (like the MXQ) but has a satellite tuner in there ..
alls working real well, kodi runs well, and the satellite side also works well(after tackling the channel line up, by finding a python script)
ive since found open elec, and a 'vitmod' that turns it into openelec, with enigma2, neutrinoHD, openATV, all selectable in kodi ...
has taken me alot of time to mess around and setting up, but its been good to learn it all !
But TBH the android side just works, it auto updates, and is very easy to set up, after the initial channel lineup setup (but thats only because i set up more than just freesat)
openelec is what takes up the silly amount of time and setup, but then thats what that is ! .. custom, not outa the box setups ! but is 'fun' to learn all the linux stuff etc!!!
if i had to choose again, not sure if i would go with the now newest KIplus DVB, or a proper twin tuner Wetek ??? prob teh KI, as android is prob more future proof and ALOT less hassle!Last edited by gadget78; 14 March, 2016, 20:41.Comment

Yes Wetek will require a bit of setting up, but it can be easily done by taking a look a their forum, as they have everything well explained.
regardless, it's a excelente device, i have read you guys talking about it, not being so good, but honestly i have not encountered a major thing to talk about. i have it for a few time, but the people here in the house gives it constant usage with nothing major to report.
Android for the kids +Openelec + enigma2.
