Well I've been with vermin since the NTL days and happy to stay that way.............Sky use Bt lines I think so if it was a toss up between the two for cost I would go with Sky. I think that their fibre only goes as far as the "box" in the street then copper cables after, whereas vermin is fibre all the way to your house....not sure if this helps.

Had both & there is only one winner VM.....I would guess its what you are doing with the service
online games ....Downloading....whats connected to the service

I would choose VM every time even if S*Y/BT line was only ?10 for 12 months.....But it's not they sound great offers but there not.....
Also wait till you have a problem with the service.....that's when the fun starts
5 hours on the phone talking to some Indian or Pakistani customer service person that knows nothing about what they are talking about

Your better asking McDonald's staff to come out & fix it.....because they will know more about the service

If there is a problem they say it will be fixed within 28 days from the report received
so you sit & wait with your fingers crossed.

If they send a BT or Openreach engineer out & the fault is at your end or the equipment is setup wrong
then get ready to pay ?75 on top of your next bill from them for the pleasure of the visit....

Your choice but research them before choosing which one..

      Hope my experience help's you

very few places have fibre "to the house" as you call it , or FTTP , which is Fibre To The Premises

most are FTTC , C for Cabinet

sly , plusnet , BT , all use the BT fibre network which goes mainly to the cabinets

Vermin use a similar system and then copper coax cable to your house, whereas BT (and the other providers use the pair of copper wires to your house which is provided by Openreach)

there are a lot of myths about fibre, dont fall for them , its usually ignorance of the subject and that the adverts seem to imply its fibre all the way when it isnt

when looking at a non-vermin contract, assume its FTTC and copper wires after that, reliant on the BT system, this may change now OFCOM has ordered BT to open its ducts and poles etc to competition , but that hasnt started yet

Just to add basically how Ramjet has explained it clearly enough anyway.

Both BT and Vermin are both FTTC products unelss you pay BT a wedge to actually get a Fibre optic cable to your premises.
