The link maca links to unfortunately is for the older series of zgemma's and isn't compatible with the newer H series of zgemma's.

Not to sound rude or anything........but why buy the box without researching it first ?

If you moving from the Openbox to one of these system's.......your going to have problems
          there nothing like each other

Research is always an advantage to make sure you understand how the boxes work

You ask for help to set the box up.....Thats ok if someone has the time to nip round & help you

but what happens if the box crashes.... back to square one.....asking some to fix it

the best way is the read what/how you need to do things with the box most are covered by posts on here

Again don't mean to piss on your bonfire......if you learn the basics the rest follows !

Mahf51, stop worrying the zgemma is a resilient box and quite hard to brick, the guide I gave you in your other thread will give you a channel lists and an EPG, skins can be found in the plugin-skins section.

Other help within the forum rules is just a post away, have fun, experiment and if goes wrong start again that's the beauty of this hobby.

They are very easy to brick stick a standard gemma image on an H series and job done (probably) a wrong image is by far the easiest way to brick a box so be careful and no rs232 port to recover it. But PD is right these boxes crash all the time even the high end ones so unless you have someone on standby who can fix stuff (remotely or in person) you can become very frustrated very quickly and that's when all the contents about the boxes being rubbish start when in fact it's not the box that rubbish because they rely totally on human configuration and input to work. In short I agree that research is a must before venturing into enigma recievers

Read things properly and make sure you have the correct image for your version of the receiver. Everything else can be fixed, good luck and it's not as difficult as it sounds.

let me also say most linux boxes come with a image
flashed and more or less set up, check first before you flash it.
before you flash the image set the box up and either scan the channels
and i check the free to air channels or opening.then follow this guide,

first format your usb stick to fat32, next
you must only use the image for your zgemma model
download the image from their forum, next open the zip folder
and take the zgemma folder out of it and put on your desktop,
do not open the zgemma folder, send the zgemma folder to a formatted
usb stick, when loaded on the stick remove it from your computer.
then power off the receiver. not standby turn it off.then plug the
usb stick into rear usb port on your receiver, and Power on receiver.
Press the Power Key on the front panel after you see ?USB?on the display.
The display should change to ?Flash?Wait until the receiver restarts
automatically. Once picture is shown on screen, flash will be complete.
Now remove usb, no need to power off.

Please note, the receiver only upgrades image through back panel usb.

This guide applies to all Zgemma receivers.

dont worry about addond pluggins etc: first
get the box flashed, then ask about other things.

If you need the firmware to reflash you can get it from here, I would use openatv.

I've been doing xtrend 8000s lately yes they're twice the price (and size) but way better box if you can stretch the budget. They run sweet on openatv as well.
