    Meelo SE cable tuner?

    I have read that the Meelo SE comes with twin satellite tuners, can one of these be replaced with a cable tuner?

    I have no use for a second sat tuner on my box.

    Cheers.

    Looking on the Aliexpress website;

    Code:
    http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/3pcs-Vu-Solo2-SE-Twin-Tuner-Decoder-Vu-Solo-2-SE-update-from-vu-solo2-mini/824722_32594556058.html
    It says '2x DVB-s2 Fixed' to me that means hard wired into the motherboard.

    My concern would be the fact it's states 'Linux' and not 'Enigma 2' as an OS

      Looks like a Clone Solo2 to me as it clearly states in the header, by the way Linux and Enigma2 are one in the same its full title should be Linux Enigma2

        It looks like a non starter then because I want cable and sat. Pity, as that box would fill my needs nicely.

          You have other options available to you:

          Zgemma H1 DVB-S2 + DVB-C tuner on board runs a 750mhz cpu around ?65 (Uses Patched OpenVix images)

          Zgemma H.2H DVB-S2 + DVB-C/T/T2 tuner on board runs a 750mhz cpu in Dual hyperthreading mode similar to a dual core around ?89 (Uses Patched OpenVix images)

          Edision OS Mini DVBS-S2 + DVB-C/T/T2 same as above but gas Built in wi-fi and bluetooth around ?99 (full support from almost all groups including Openvix no patched images required)

          Just my 2 cents i have dealt with both the Zgemma H1 which has an excellent Samsung 101A DVB-C tuner on board and is very sensitive especially if you have weak and or 2-3 cable products all running on the same inlet.

          Also just started buying the Edision OS Mini again this has a Panasonic DVB-C/T/T2 tuner again very sensitive and ideal for low signal problems. uses a similar tuner to the TM-Nano-SE Combo again a very sensitive tuner but will set you back around ?105.

          Never dealt with the newer Zgemma range as scouting around i hear horror story's of Signal problems with the tuner etc...

          The Edision and the TM Combo are extremely well built and feel solid in the hand where as the Zgemma range are chinese built and you can tell.

          There are of course plenty of other models in different price brackets

            It's the new name for the vu Mini solo2se, a copy rather than a clone of the Solo2. You can use a USB cable tuner with them but can't change the fixed internal tuners.

              I think that'll make it economically unfeasible for me, shame really because I like the box.

                I have emailed a few sellers of this box and asked them to remove one sat tuner and put in a cable tuner. If they do that, they have a buyer.

                    @P&D

                    Have had and used both and the Edision just pips it for me they use nearly identical DVB-C/T/T2 tuners so the cable side is very responsive if you have any signal problems.

                    Edidison has the added bonus of having Wi-Fi built in and the Support is far better.

                        I am unsure why in this day and age people still insist on buying Clones with limited patched images available when for a few pounds more they can have a Uk specced machine and some with a 2 year warranty. I give up.

                        Each to there own i suppose

                          I have personally used both a Genuine Vu+ Duo and a Clone Duo, the clone was more reliable then the genuine box. Having a 12 Month UK warranty may sound good but it's still a PITA to have to remove the HDD and return, especially when it cost 50% more than the clone.

                          Of course, not all clones are such good build quality and I've seen some bad ones, but in the case of Vu and Dreambox, the clones I've had were pretty good.

                            You can use images for the Miraclebox Premium Mini Plus on a X Solo Mini 3 apparently. According to what I've read you just change one or two file names, and voila, it installs and is updatable online.

                              Why take the risk most models that are cheaper than that clone can take pretty much all approved images from the OE alliance teams and OpenPLI no patched images in site and guaranteed future proof.

                              Dont get me wrong once there was a place for Clone machines but with the prices of receivers dropping on originals and Chinese company's such as Air Digital releasing a combo machine for just over ?60 with at least some approved support and one patched image for me anyway the Clone era is dead
