    I/O Link & distribution

Is there a limit to how many magic eyes I can run from this?

I have Sky HD box with I/O link connected, the I/O link is powered from a 240v supply
I also have an openbox which has an RF modulator connected, the RF modulator is also powered from a 240v feed, both the RF modulator and the I/O Link are daisy chained together and sent upto the loft where there is a 5 way splitter with power pass (This is not powered) and is distributed to 3 TV's atm and works perfectly

I want to add 2 more TV's to this set up, might I add I have magic eyes on all the TVs so I can change channels still on both the sky and openbox

Is there a limit to how many magic eyes I can run? reason i ask is because I installed my 4th tv over the weekend and when i connected the magic eye it did not power up, i tried it on a separate tv that is already working and was fine, i can still watch both the boxes but am unable to change the channel because i do not seem to be getting any voltage down the coax

    Help please

You would be better using a Powered Power pass amplifier in the loft

To do this, would I need to disconnect the 240v supply's for both the I/O link and RF Modulator? or would it still be fine to leave connected?

You can take the PSU off the I/O link as a powered Amp with DC pass will take care of distributing the signal and powering the magic eyes, your RF modulator for the openbox will still need its power

I think I will go for this instead, the other unit has F converters on in which means an extra joint, this comes with F connectors as standard, also the rest of my set-up has Labgear so is nice to keep it all the same I think

Do you think this would be okay?

I ordered the second Amplifier in the end, works a treat.

                        IMG_4916.JPG

Took a feed from the light switch and into a fused spur, fitted a 3a fuse, then fitted the 2 gang socket which powers the Masthead and Amplifier.
                        Cables are routed as follows....
Masthead to 12V feed in > Freeview out to Sky Box
I/O Link and RF modulator daisy chained together and feed up to loft and into UHF in
Then a feed down to each room with a tv which carries its own 9v feed to power the Magic eye, have Sky, Second Satelite box and Freeview on all TV's and the ability to control in each room
I tried to disconnect the power feed for the I/O link but lost the picture so just switched off the I/O link power supply from the actual secret menu inside the Sky box, this didnt seem to affect the picture.

All in all a good job, so thanks for your help I am very happy with it.
