Using Huwaei router/modem

I managed to get hold of a Huwaei router/modem from a relative and have been trying to use it with my box via WiFi. The model is e5573s. and I have a GiffGaff 4G data sim.

I can browse with it just fine and don't appear to have connection problems, but when I use it with the box it falls flat, whereas if I connect to my home WiFi it works beautifully.

Can anyone offer me advice, such as would a booster help? The Huwaei unit has 2 aerial sockets.

I am going to flog it if it turns out it will not work. I only got it for one purpose, and one purpose only. Looks like I may have to try a sim from 3. Go cheap, buy twice. D'oh!
