    VU zero any good?

I am looking for a quality sat receiver that wont break the bank, I'm thinking about the VU zero. Any opinions on this box and what fw is preferable, openvix, blackhole, open pli, vti or openATV and do any of these come with auto updating epg ?

I cannot comment on the Zero but I found Open PLi to be the least hassle in setting up for the first time. I quickly moved onto Open ATV, which I still use. I don't use Crossepg.

All the OE images can use Autobouquets, Autobouquetsmaker and CrossEPG. The Zero is a nice little box, similar spec to the ZGemma H.S just without the SD slot and a lot smaller. You can check the Spec on the Vu+ site.

I have heard about open ATV but not sure what its all about having only ever had an old dreambox. I need something user friendly for a non techie relative?

Once you get used to it it's easy. I have only been using it a couple of weeks at most.

            Hi mate,
The Vu Zero is a neat little box, very tidy and can easily be hidden behind a wall mounted TV.
You can pick up an IR cable, which connects to the back of the Zero and can be attached to the TV.
It performs as well as any single tuner box, and you can mount a usb HDD for storage.
I personally can't fault the box, but its a choice of preference really.

Not particularly, but it is running a vix image....
As long as it works well I see no need to change at present.
Have also a Solo2 running OpenAtv & Solo running OpenPli just cant decide....
