All down to your budget. You will find that all the upgrade boxes you're looking at run Enigma2 Linux software, which can be daunting to the new user as first but it's quite easy once you get use to it.
bouquets are all done by a plugin (software which your Box can download) all you do once downloaded is add a few setting, loads of guides available on here.
skins are done either by plugins again or can be manually added again loads of guides available.
You will need to borrow a laptop or PC but once setup, all maintence can be done on the box itself, except for the one bit of maintence you have to do once every 12 months
.
Basically there's loads of guides around and members on this forum that use Enigma2 boxes that will help answer any questions or you could cheat and just install someone's backup image for whichever box you decide to get.Last edited by martin035; 11 June, 2016, 08:09. -
The only other bits of advice I would give, is if your in a cable area perhaps give some serious thought to a combo E2 box
And;
Don't forget the 'something' on the openbox can be removed and added to your new box, saving you a few quid, you can also then reset the openbox to factory setting and put that on the bay, somebody will buy it
, again recovering some of the cost of a new box.
As to which E2 box, if you don't want to spend a vast fortune look at either a Zgemma H series or an Edision OS mini. The Edision OS mini has the same specs as the Zgemma but has built in wifi which could prove useful.Comment

Of course you can contact me, but it would be best if you put your questions on the forum, so that other forum members can answer (due to me having some nasty long work shifts coming up it could be a while for me to answer) and also for other forum members who in the future have the same problems will find the answers via a forum search.
If you do get a Zgemma make sure you get a H series ie H.2s or H.S
Have a read of this thread it will give you some ideas on how to set the zgemma up;
This Backup Image is for the Newer H series of Zgemma Satellite receivers, it will work on the H.S and H.2s and confirmed working on the H.2H by Hadron @post #116 (requires additional setup for cable see post #119) but hasn't been tested on the H5 Openatv5.3 Backup Image with New improved Sky Skin, OTA update safe ?Comment

My 2p worth go for the Edision OS mini ?99 delivered & flashed...from a well know sat company in Warrington...Bought one for my daughter 3 months ago & never missed a heart beat
the wifi is very stable.....& you have the best of both worlds Sat/Cable
Also as Martin has said if your in a cable area welcome back HD TV
Yes including all the sports
Runs as well as my Vu+ Solo 2...
...Not relay but does run like clock work....for a small box.
It would be my budget box if I was to buy a 2nd box
Hope this helps
once you upgrade the 1st question you will ask yourself why the f**k you didn't do it months agoLast edited by P&D; 8 July, 2016, 00:28.Comment
