I highly doubt it as its a promotional offer to get customers to upgrade to a free HD receiver

That would sound about right according to the little whisper I've heard about sly stopping broadcast of sd movie channels. But we all know rumours ate not always true.

I've read elsewhere that sky now have higher quality masters at full 1920x1080 rather than 1440x1080 and are giving Movie subscribers free HD, but no mention of stopping SD. AFAIK, it's primarily a re-branding to match the other Sky platforms

Higher Quality masters are not worth Squat to that bunch of idiots, they already cram 7-8 HD channels onto one transponder which compromises bit rate so i cant see anything changing until they get 4K going and then they will do exactly the same and massacre UHD broadcasts.

They should take a leaf from other foreign HD broadcasters who only allow 3-4 channels in HD on 1 transponder the quality is stunning compared to the UK drivel they dish out no pun intended
