    Sorting 28.2 Picons

Is there a quicker way of weeding out all the picons that are not in relation to the 28.2 picons guys??

Just got an update od SNP's dated 14/07/16 but going through each one to eliminate the ones that are not needed?

Doing this before i send over to the zgemma and also to reduce space

    PS
Do the zgemma accept an internal HDD? Have one from another mother which i wouldnt of minded putting in?

Yes, as the zgemma is setup with a dual location for it's picons, just delete the picon folder /usr/share/enigma2/picon and transfer your new untouched picon folder from your PC to your USB drive, no need to worry about how much room is taken up then, downside however, you will take a performance hit especially on older Zgemmas.

Or again delete the picon folder again /usr/share/enigma2/picon and install a picon pack from the plugin Repo (menu-plugins-green button) downside to this is again the Zgemma might put the picons on the USB (performance issue) or the picons in the repo ain't up to date.

Or stop been scared of a bit of work and spend a bit of time with a cuppa tea and weed the folder out yourself, should only take about 30 mins max

Custom mod only, involves gaffer tape and a soldering iron, but basically you gaffer tape the hard drive into the zgemma and use the solder iron to hard connect the USB cable to the front USB port, problem you will get is as the Zgemma isn't designed for an internal hard drive, is heat build up which could damage the zgemma or hard drive.

Thanks to galch for the pictures

Let me tell you the quick and proper way to removed unused picon as long as they have not been converted to snp (service name picons) export bouquets to dbe (dreambox edit) and ftp the picon folder to pc location you have instructed dbe to look at for picon (in my case it's documents/dbe/picon) you can put them on the desktop if you prefer but just change the location to match in dbe. Once bouquets are loaded and picons are visible press edit (next to tools) then remove unused picons. Shut down dbe and go to picon folder and delete the folder of unused picons inside the picon folder. Ftp picon folder back to receiver. That whole process takes me less than a minute.

IIRC USB Flashable backup image size max 100Mb and that's why I use Anggels picons as a complete set has a very small footprint and they update the picons often.

So do you think that I should flash then insert new USB stick update box then perhaps delete old picons with new set?

I wasn't to sure if they went straight onto USB as they are getting sent by ftp?

That's when I decided to do a backup and it was a rather large 150 mg

Just weed out the Picons folder of all the Picons you don't need via either the way I or happy_h described you will then get the size under 100mb

ps don't forget weed out all those itv and bbc regions

The picon pack i downloaded was actually a 28.2e only as some of the picons have foreign content on them whilst this as only S?y related?

Funny enough tho i did weed out the religious channels and stuff you never really watch?
