Zgemma Picons Gone And Other Q's

    Hello
Still relatively new with this box .
In the epg my picons appear to have gone and it just says BLUE HD.
Is there a reason for this and will they come back ?
Also the program FileZilla when I try to back up my line I cant copy anything over as the option to download is grayed out ?
Also software update says there are 77 packages to update ... something about channel updates ? I take it I should not update ?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm just feeling my way with this box .

    Thanks

your box uses unofficial versions of images , patched images , so I think you or anyone else would be follish to do any updates as those updates are for officially supported boxes like the VU range which are what I use myself

this thread tells you not to update http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...nnel-EPG-Issue and was your previous thread which you acknowledged in the last post in there

picons are located in a picon folder somewhere on your box , on my vu they are in a picon folder on a usb stick and the usb stick is mounted and the epg picks them up and uses them, but I have no idea where yours are located, but there are only 3 possibilities , in the flash memory , on a usb stick or on a hdd

no they wont come back on their own, you need to locate the problem and sort it out

one of the dangers of buying an unofficial box and using patched images are the issues like not updating etc

Openvix uses patched software and isn't safe to update but openatv is full supported on the Zgemma range and is safe to update.

Using Filezilla on an openvix zgemma your important files will be found in /etc just drag and drop the files you want to backup on to your PC's desktop.

          Either
          /media/hdd/picon

          or

          /usr/share/enigma2/picon

Don't be fed up, zgemma ain't plug and play, they take a bit of work but once setup and with a bit of maintenance they are 10 times better than an Openbox

Thank you ... I'm just scared of losing my "Gift" and would like to back it up then maybe I can start again with the box.
The picons were working before so where does/did the box get them from or do they have to be added manually ?
Ive seen on the forum about downloading the plugins in menu then picons , Is that the right place to get them ?
As for the update .. in Software Update it says ( 77 updated packages available ) 1 view changes , which just says error 2 Upgrade and reboot 3 Update Channel list only or 4 cancel which is what I choose but should this be updated or not.

            Thanks

That's a valid reason, just do as I've stated and you will get your backup.

Whoever setup the box must have put the picons on manually or via the plugins. Manually is better as the picons get updated more often, via the plugin's menu is easier but not all the new picons are included.

              That is the easiest way

As you're using openvix I wouldn't, there is a good chance you could corrupt the firmware.
