    Is it a viable option?

    Morning Gents,
    I currently have a Sky package with fibre broadband but was going to scrap it in favour of a free sat box and Vodafone fibre. I have heard about these Zgemma boxes (h2s?) And wanted to know if replacing my Sky with one of these is really a viable option. The reason being as I have zero knowledge on things like this and don't want to make the jump if I'm going to end up with problems!
    Can I get a box that will simply plug in and run smoothly? Or is that wishful thinking? Have seen them on fleabay for about ?170 and it looks spot on. I have searched on here, but to be honest, the jargon goes straight over my head.
    Any views or information would be greatly received.

    Yes, however;
    1. Won't be totally plug&play there will be a few setting you will have to do yourself
    2. You will only have Free to Air HD all others will be SD
    3. Things like timeshift and series link require a bit more user input and ain't press & forget
    4. Things are different but research/guides are freely available on the internet to assist before making an jump.
    5. ?170 rip off

      Cheers Martin.
      Not too fussed on hd or series link, as long as I can click record from the planner.
      Could anyone suggest a reputable seller who could supply a box with a bit of back up if required?

        Wow, Zgemma's have gone up in price on the ebay, anyway you shouldn't pay any more that ?80 for a Zgemma H2s all you need to do is check out the sellers feedback and you should be Ok, don't be tempted to buy a Zgemma with a promise of 12, 18 or 24 months added on, as these are renown to stop their promise after a couple of months or weeks, buy that separate.

        Unfortunately it's against forum rules to give out any information on where to get your own Magic part of the system and I don't do recommendations.

        The Software for the Zgemma H2s which will give you all the Free to Air channels and a guide on how to setup is in the thread below;
        This Backup Image is for the Newer H series of Zgemma Satellite receivers, it will work on the H.S and H.2s and confirmed working on the H.2H by Hadron @post #116 (requires additional setup for cable see post #119) but hasn't been tested on the H5 Openatv5.3 Backup Image with New improved Sky Skin, OTA update safe ?
