sat equipment

hi all been using cable untill now but want to have a go at sat.
been reading up on the site to help and think i can try it. but was wondering what was the best sort of equipment was ?
i e what is the best receiver ? i was thinking of a dreambox 800hd and get the cable tuner aswell to keep me going till it is up and running. and what sat is good ? will 1m dish be big enough ? living in the south west ?
also does anyone know what would be a good 1st moterised dish etc ?

hi griff there are a few threads already suggesting good 1m dishes and decent motors, as well as great boxes..

it depends what type of channels you want to view

1m is the dish size you should go for, and a good motor with Diseq 1.2 HH motor, and you should be okay.

thanks for the help. i think i am going to get a 1m dish, dreambox 800hd. what sort of lnb will i need ?
and would the make of the suff make a differance ? just want a good first step with the gear. any help would be great

opsmonkey thanks for the advice i have read the threads just wanted peoples advise ? everyone likes differant things and has differant opinions. i want the footy channels but just want to play around with it all
