    Box recommendations.

    Hello everyone. Been out the loop for a while, been playing with metal detectors. Silly expensive hobby!!

    Just looking for some box recommendations. Single tuner (or twin depending on cost) Able to record to USB and has support. Zgemma's look cheap but are they any good?

    Thanks everyone

        Single tuner will give you, watch and record the same channel only.
        Twin Tuner will give you, watch one channel, record another.

        Zgemma do the job just fine, full supported by all except Openvix, but don't buy the old series Zgemma's as these are starting to show their age now, go for a H series;
        Zgemma HS - Single tuner
        Zgemma H2.s - Twin Tuner

        There is a new series just released the H5 series, these are the future but at present there isn't any Backup images available so you will have to set these box up from scratch, which can be daunting for a newbie.

        You will also need a USB drive or Micro SD card for EPG, records and time shift, 32 - 64 GB is the idle size.

          Thanks Martin. I only really needed to know if the Zgemma's were a good budget choice. I know we shouldn't judge a book but at their price point I was wondering if they were trouble..

            The only trouble you get with Zgemma's are from the people at the end of the remote control, all issues with zgemma's are normally issues that are common to all e2 machines, but as maca says there's loads of info available on forums to assist newbies or the experienced when they run into issues.

              Been having a read around about the zgemma's and generally they have the scene blessing. However, I had a read through a thread on the vix site and it got completely slated, with some using words like dangerous, fire, potentially life threatening etc.. In my own experience with the vix bunch they do come across as petulant juveniles with a god complex but is there any truth in these claims?

                None what so ever, the earlier Mark 1 models had a dodgy fitted Plug/Fuse but this was remedied straight away

                  Thanks.. I did suspect the opinions were a little over exaggerated but just wanted to be sure. Not entirely sure but I think somehow the box manufacturer has upset vix by pinching code or something of that nature?
