    thor bad on motorized dish

I got a 1.1 triax installed a while back , but thor at one west is a problem. most channels come in but more freeze on me. I tried moving east and west with my rechnomate but notting. All i can think is that the installer done a bad job. I want to fix it myself as i think the dish needs a slight tilt back, but if i get all thor channels to its best will it effect the other satellites when i move the dish to them. All the stronger sats like hotbird, astra are fine. Any help would be great.

Try to get the best possible reception on BBC World Thor 1.0W.

if you tune it in as best as poss on bbc world as suggested by curious123 all your other sats should still be fine as long as the mounting pole is plumb.
some of the weaker channels on 1West can freeze now and again especially now the bad weather is coming.

I agree with dick b. You WILL have problems on some channels on Thor especially when the weather is poor ( ie heavy rain ) I only have a 85cm dish and i live in the middle of the UK. You say you have a 1.1mtr dish, but you have not stated where you live....I think ALL these factors have to be taken into consideration.

make sure the dish is centered on the diseqc motor if thats what you using.

these can move in strong winds and make sure to place the dish side on to the wind direction

I live in ireland, the midlands. I have an 88cm motorized dish in my mothers house which is the other end of town from where i am now, and i can get everything no problem on thor, even in bad weather.

although the larger dish should improve reception it must also be aligned with more accuracy (the smaller dish has more room for error)

I live just south of the humber and get just as good results from an 80cm as I do from my 1mt dish.
